VanTrece-Patterson:: great match between two tough kids; VanTreece with a reversal and back points in the last 30 or so seconds to win it
Long-Tanenbau- I think the score was 12-4 Tanenbaum in an overall dominant fashion
Tanenbaum-Elliot: Tanenbaum pinned him in the second period after building up an 11-0 lead. Tanenbaum was really impressive after his loss to Patterson having a total of 3 pins and a 12-4 win.
Smith had an outstanding tournament but got ripped off by the refs- he lost a tough double overtime match on a false start and lost another one to Patterson with about 5 seconds left
This was a great, tough weight class with some outstanding kids that left it all on the mat who handled themselves with class both in winnning and in loosing
Matdog - How did Smith get "ripped off" by the refs? He had 3 cautions for the same violation with NO points being awarded to his opponent. I don't think this is what the rule book says. If it does, please advise. Since coaches pointed out the rule in the book to the ref. It was a bad way to lose, but the other kid had a excellent match also.
My apologies double d. I jusst meant that it was a difficult way to loose a match but you are entriely correct that it was not the refs who 'jumped' early but Smith. Nonetheless, an impressive group of tough kids. I wish that they could have had a full mat to wrestle on to allow them to really display their skills and not spend as much time stopping the matches because of limited space.
double d,,,, smith had 2 warnings then points awarded for each false start,,,it was a great group of kids,,in all i think a really good state tournament
