Hi Everybody, Soon a committee will be considering wrestlers for the annual Kansas City Metro Classic. After last year's Kansas win, a 26-25 squeeker, Missouri will be loading up. High school coaches need to fax their recommended wrestlers to 913-768-7239 or email me at gdulmer@hotmail.com. Recommendations must be received by Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013.

AAA...Me too! I think it comes down to whether there are any weight classes that will not be wrestled before another weight class is doubled up on, and of course both states have to agree to it. There are some great choices in a lot of weight classes for Kansas this year. This will be a good year to kick Missouri's butt.

Who is Kansas looking at fielding in their lineup this year? Also any thoughts on who Missouri might have? I hadn't seen anything on the forum in other threads so I thought I would pose the question. I realize it depends on the weight allowance , state placing, etc. I have posted a few thoughts of mine below.
KS - Seaton (113), Shoemaker (138), Humphrey (145), Blackwell (152), Pucket (160), Guillen (170), Meck (182), Taliaferro (195), Contreras (220), Butler & Geary (HWT),
MO - Lapaglia (145), Daniels (160)

If they get a 7 pound allowance, this team would be tough.

In my opinion the 7 lb allowance should be from the weight the athletes competed at in high school. ie. If you have a 160 in high school, then he should be 160 in the metro, not a 152 for the metro classic.
The older I get the better I was!

How far away can a school be to be considered in the Metro area? 80 miles as the crow flies in Kansas. 50 miles in Missouri. This is balanced based on student population.

Wouldn't Holton and Wamego be out of reach according to those standards?

Holton has had at 5 wrestlers in the past. Wamego is a bit far out!!
In the past, Hiawatha has had 2, Sabetha has had 4, Ft. Scott with 7, and Rossville with 2.
A few other factoids ... Missouri has been represented by 45 schools and Kansas by 56.
Kansas has 7 schools that have at least 10 wrestlers from an individual school. (Blue Valley 13, BV North 10, BV Northwest 13, Lansing 11, Paola 10, St. Thomas Aquinas 13, Wyandotte 10)
Missouri has 8 schools that have at least 10 competitors. (Blue Springs 24, Kearney 11, Lee's Summit 13, Oak Grove 27, Oak Park 29, Park Hill 24, Platte County 18, Ray-Pec 15)
Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?
