Wrestling is the greatest sport. One of the reasons is the amazing stories hidden in the brackets.
While BB makes a big fuss about “Bracketology” in March, it is nothing compared to Wrestling!
Here are some of the highlights from 6A
106 Making the best of tough start. Benny Deaton OS gets pinned by Dipman from Derby in first round. Deaton wins three matches on the backside eventually places 6th Dipman does not place.
113 OT BATTLES Jaden McRoberts DC loses in OT first round to Burger GE. First match on backside McRoberts wins in OT and then wins again in OT to medal.
In the same bracket Senior Jordon Short WR Loses first round in OT and the second match in OT. Close matches for this Senior.
170 The longest road on the backside belongs to Jordan Dillard SMW Lost first round 5-2 Santillon Derby Dillard then goes 4- 0 on back side with 2 OT wins to make it to consolation finals and placed 4th.
220
Plummer from Hutch Needs to give his family a little rest.
First round win OT 4-1 Quarters win 2 OT 3-2 Semi final loss 2 OT 3-2 Conso-Semis win OT 3-1 Wins 3rd win SV OT 3-1
Every match tells a story!
The older I get the better I was!

Here is a couple from for 321A.
Weight Class 132 Daniel Melcher of Herington losses first round to Caleb Studley of Phillipsburg 4-1. Daniel Melcher goes 5-0 and takes 3rd while Studley does not place.
Other Side of bracket: Colton Stalford of Caney Valley losses first round to Taylor Murphy of Oakley 4-3. Stalford goes 4-1 and takes 4th while Murphy does not place.
3rd and 4th place match at this weight was between to kids who got beat first round. The match the WOULD have wrestled in the quarters was the match the won in the Consolation Semi-Finals. Both wrestlers had to battle back to earn their medal.
Weight Class 160 Warren Kropp of Scott City loses in first round to Taylor Schuetz of ACCHS 5-3. Kropp comes back and takes 5th losing again to Schuetz in the Cons Semifinals 3-1.
170 Same story as above for Aidan Shaughnessy of Cimarron and Cameron Staples of Trego. Staples wins first round and 5th and 6th place match
285 Jared Hoffman loses to Fritz Berger of Sylvan-Lucas 7-2 in first round. Hoffman takes 6th, Berger does not place.
Michael McEachern of Scott City losses to Cody Cooper Rossvile first round 4-0. McEarchern comes back and beats Cooper 2-1 in Consolation Semi Finals and takes 4th, Cooper take 5th.
Just a few I saw looking through brackets.

Here's a good read on Shawnee Mission Northwest's LaPhonso McKinnis, 6A 170 lb State Champion: http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2013/jan/24...h_school_sportsI was rooting for Lawrence High's Alan Clothier to win the 170 lb bracket, but after he went to the consolation side, I couldn't help but root for LaPhonso!
