What is the matter with the state/national tournament series we have now?

What is the definition of:

Diaper Age Group State/Nationals
Preschool - Just out of Diapers State/Nationals
Elementary - K-5th grade State/Nationals
Middle School - 6th grade - 8th grade State/Nationals
High School - 9th - 12th State/Nationals Cadet and Junior

USA Wrestling Age Groups and Weights Below

These are the age groups and weights they are using at USA Wrestling Folk Style Nationals - this is our national governing body

How low should we go? How young?

Dang, how I miss the former "Midget Division".
My son always knew why they called them Midgets until some politically correct group came along! Oh the memories of Midget Wrestling!

In it to win it.

And when they get up to a certain age they go back to another diaper division.

Well you're just a special kind of stupid aren't you?

Smokey,

Why Stop??? How about the infant division??? Some infants develop faster than others so there should be no minimum age restriction. If the kid can support the weight of it's own head they are in. Here's how it would work... have a small mat at weigh-ins. Set them on the mat, if they can raise their head they move on to skin & nails check, then to the scale. All tournaments and especially the KS Infant State Tournament of Champions should require shoulder to shoulder (or stroller to stroller) weigh ins. The bracket sizes should not exceed 32 man.

Coach,

The most important thing is to get these youngsters to continue wrestling all the way through high school, and for the best of the bunch another level above that. If you have a wrestler that has the tools early on but doesn't compete or complete a high school career, what does it really matter how good they were when they were in diapers? There are exceptions for a number of reasons and I get that. I just want parents and coaches to know that early success does not always lead to a productive high school career (or beyond).
