Head to Head should be the tie breaker as it has been in the past, but like it has been said, your ranknings, do what you like. Luellen is tops from my point of view. Good luck in College next year Zaba.

They are your rankings. You can do whatever you want. But you can no longer argue that they aren't opinion based. This may be why you have been accused of being biased. I never thought those accusations had much merit but now....... I have never said they are void of opinion. Every single ranking in every sport has various levels of subjectivity. The bias accusations are dwarfed by the positive input that I get. Reason with me here... At this weight, all four wrestlers have merit to be ranked #1. #4 Isaiah Luellen, is a 2X state champion and 4X placer. He absolutely belongs in the same conversation as these other three. #3 Garrett Lange, was an undefeated state champion, a state champion in 2017, a state finalist in 2016 and a USAW Folkstyle All-American. #2 Jalin Harper, was 2-1 over Wills but lost to him in the finals, was a 2017 state champion and a Fargo All-American. #1 Triston Wills was rewarded this position by beating #1 Harper on the biggest stage as 2018 state champion and is a 3X state placer. Courtney, you would have to agree that whomever I placed at #1, could have questions on why they are there. In your example of Lambotte and Millsap, those two wrestlers were #1 and #2 going into RMN! As I stated earlier, those were the exceptions I have used. In the end, I expected that I couldn't please everyone and had to land somewhere. The Luellen family is as high of character family that I've ever known. It was an amazing encouragement to see Isaiah run the table this year! All the best to these elite athletes! Chief

A few years back, Lambotte lost to Milsap at RMN. They were not "tied" after the state tournament either. However, the "Final" rankings had Milsap #1. Again, your rankings As I stated in my earlier post, Lambotte and Millsap were #1 and #2 entering RMN. My quote from earlier in this thread... "There have been times that I have tied wrestlers or a 1 vs 2, and have waited until they meet in Denver or the Senior classic."

Opinion should never overrule head to head wrestling. It don't make a bit of difference who can beat who in any persons mind when its been decided in a fight on the mat. If a wrestler has not lost a match to a lower ranked wrestler and beats your #1 that has lost to your #2 then you rank the wrestler that beat #1 #4 because..... #3 is a very good wrestler?

Ya. Usually i agree with alot of Chieds rankings. This one is not correct. 3 and 4 go undefeated and 4 beat #1 head to head. That really doesn't make much sense. It should probably go Luellen or Lange 1 and 2. Either one is deserving. Wills would be 3 and Harper 4. My opinion based off head to head

There is merit to your post. To be clear, I had finalized the All-Class rankings after state. There were no tied wrestlers, nor any #1 v #2 coming up in either RMN or the Senior Classic. I had just not finished the thread with an official announcement yet. I had considered Lange 1, Luellen 2, Wills 3 and Harper 4, but decided to not change the rankings based on a post season tournament unless it met the specific criteria. I should have finished the official announcement before our trip, to clear all of this up.

126: 1. Jace Koelzer - OS - 12 - 6A 2. Mason Turner - SCH - 12 - 5A 3. Jayson West - MZS - 12 - 5A 4. Jacob Holt - GC - 10 - 6A 5. Gunnar Murray - WR - 12 - 6A 6. Drew Burgoon - SLC - 11 - 5A 7. Mike Turkali - AND - 12 - 5A 8. Joseph Dennison - BVSW - 11 - 5A 9. Peyton Sadowski - ELD - 12 - 4A 10. Riley McDaniel - FRT - 11 - 4A
Turner finished last year ranked 2nd and Koelzer was 6th, both at 120. How did Koelzer jump him and get the #1 spot on the intermat article? Freestyle results? In part, yes. Jace is a 6x Fargo AA and a USAW folkstyle AA. His loss at the state tournament last year cost him in that ranking, not this one. Except when I asked during preseason and you said you took results from out of season to switch Koelzer and Turner. My opinion is you don’t wanna put kids that were included in your Top Seniors article low, which makes sense. Can’t put the D1 commit below a D2 commit. Can’t have the senior you ranked as KS’ #1 recruit second in his own weight class, also behind a D2 commit.

Why wouldn't they? The purpose of the final All-Class ranking is to have an actual finish line. Once that finish line is drawn, subsequent matches count toward the next season ranking.
