https://twitter.com/king_bmarciniak/status/964944213635928064/video/1Check the link above with video. This was the semi-final 170 pound match at the Indiana state tournament this weekend. Offensive wrestler was up 3-0 with 50 seconds left in match and check out this controversial defensive pin. The wrestler getting pinned was undefeated with a D1 scholarship. I'm just curious what some other wrestling fans thought about the call.

Bad call, not a two second pin.

There are officials out in western Kansas that call touch falls on every single pin. It's frustrating, they expect our wrestlers to follow the rule book yet they give back points once you break 90°and will call a pin as you roll through. I used to complain, but it doesnt do you any good. You will just get hit for unsportsmanlike.

I don't mind quick falls. In fact, I prefer them. But if it's a defensive fall you should definitely get the full 2 seconds.

Technically it was correct, the time stamps don't lie. Observe the following: And then take a look at the second screenshot and notice the time stamp again. So through video evidence we can see that the wrestler's pinning area which does run all the way down to the bottom of your scapula aka shoulder blades were in full contact with the mat for the required two seconds and actually slightly longer than that. Good call.

I do like quick pins. Not touch falls. We had a kid on his back, not pinned, one shoulder blade completely up and he rolled the other way, and when he rolled the other way both shoulder blades touched and he called the pin. I get that if you dont want pinned, don't go to your back. But roll through pins should never be called.

Good call. Good point. But another poster was able to get another angle or back side shot of when the referee started moving towards looking at the pin. See the link. Sure looks like his shoulders were up on other side. So you cant start your two count as a ref until you get to the mat, and you cant call a pin (especially a defensive pin in huge match) without seeing the back. Does this change your opinion? http://indianamat.com/uploads/monthly_20...5b061bee644.png

I now agree this was a bad call, it looks like he rocked through his pinning area very briefly.

most of the time with HS refs you have to pin kids an inch deep for the actual fall. Is the college fall rule different than the HS rule?
