J.J. Thaw, former Newton High School wrestler and present assistant Newton High School wrestling coach has passed away. J.J. was extremely passionate about wrestling his enthusiasm and love for the sport had a major positive impact on many, many people. Please keep the Thaw family and the Newton wrestling community in your thoughts and prayers. For coaches attending Hartman Arena if at all possible please wear a black shirt on Friday in support of J.J.

I'm so sorry to hear this. JJ was a great guy, from a great family.

Truly a great wrestler, coach, and fan. He will be missed.

Praying for Railer91's family! I never met JJ, but he and I traded hundreds of private messages. What a heart for kids and the most loyal Newton alum that I've ever been associated with!
Rest in the arms of Jesus JJ!

Was so sad to hear of this last night. My thoughts and prayers to the Thaw family. What a great person, wrestler and from a great family. As a small community of wrestlers we as wrestlers have lost a great person. WEAR BLACK FRIDAY. R.I.P. my friend, and until we meet again I feel it is never goodbye, but see you later in a much better place.
