To be eligible to copete in state qualifiers you have to live or go to school in Kasas.

I don't think you must go to school in KS. You could be a KS resident, but attend a private school on the Missouri side of the line and still be eligible to compete in USAWKS qualifying tournaments. ...please clarify further if I am wrong.

I think that a couple of years ago there had been some discussion as to allowing a Missouri
wrestler compete at State without having to wrestle at sub's or districts. The feeling was
that it would not be fair to Kansas wrestlers after going thru the proper rules and qualifiers to earn that trip and a spot on the bracket & possibly get beat out by an out of state wrestler. If I recall correctly, the idea was shot down. This was on the 2004 executive council meeting agenda. At any rate i'm not sure if the wrestler did not live in Ks. and did not attend a school within the state either. Maybe someone has a better interpretation of this issue.

The excerpt below is from the USAWKS Championship Tournament flyer on this site. Again, I believe, to be eligible to compete you must be a KS resident and be a member of a wrestling club chartered by USAWKS...no independent entries are allowed.

Walk-On entries are allowed only for the reasons mentioned below and if the proper protocol for entering the wrestler is followed...

“ ENTRY FORMS: Each club will need to make copies of the entry form for wrestlers that will be entering the qualifying tournaments. Please be sure that all requested information has been completed, including card number, and the form has been signed. It is very important that the birth date is correct and that wrestlers are entered the correct age group. Please print or type the information so it is legible.

WALK-ON ENTRY FORMS: Please make copies of the "Walk-On" entry form. It should be completed and the wrestler will need to turn this form in the same time as the other entry forms. As a walk-on, you are required to complete both entry forms! If any walk-on forms are for the STATE tournament, District Directors should forward them to Leanna Grater immediately following your seeding meeting. All wrestlers must qualify through the sub-district tournament unless they are still actively participating in their junior high wrestling program. Wrestlers will be placed on the bracket according to the criteria agreed upon at the State Meeting, 1985. You must be participating in a Jr. High wrestling event to qualify as a walk-on. “

2. For the purpose of eligibility of entering a Sub-District or District tournament, a competitive member must be a resident of Kansas and/or be enrolled in a Kansas educational school system. Special cases to this rule are subject to notification and permission from the Executive Council. The State Tournament Director will be notified of any person permitted to wrestle under this provision.

And if an out-of-state resident, that wrestles for an in-state club, the wrestler must still petition the executive council to all entry.

At this point, any wrestler living out-of-state should have already petitioned for this entry.

And more importantly if he is a Missouri wrestler but wrestles for an in-state club but is a freshman in high school shouldn't he disqualify himself from competition since Missouri high school wrestlers don't compete is kids wrestling?
