With this being our first year on a two our weigh in, we have had to work through some obstacles in regards to weigh-ins and feeding kids for competition. After discussion w/ Hartman Arena and KSHSAA officials this is the plan we have in place........
Post Weigh-in, coolers, food, etc. Plan
1. Every wrestler should already be in the arena and completed the bag check process before weigh ins begin at 8:00 a.m.
a. Remember: The Weigh in Area begins inside the Dashers on the Mat at 8:00 A.M. (All Athletes should be there, lined up, ready to weigh in at this time).
2. When wrestlers are lined up on the mat to weigh in, they should be stripped down to what they are going to wear during weigh-ins (or pretty close).
3. Teams will be allowed to bring coolers into the arena and place them outside the dashers, between the dashers and the first row of seats on the floor (Just outside the mats).
a. The option is still available of placing the coolers in the same back area immediately, should you choose.
4. After weigh-ins athletes are allowed to go to their coolers or designated food spots, get their food and beverages and either eat & rehydrate there, or take their food/drinks in the stands to consume.
a. You WILL NOT be allowed to take coolers, large quantities of food, cases of drinks, etc. into the stands. All of these items must remain on the floor w/ the exception of what an individual is planning to consume on their own.
5. AT 9:00 A.M. SHARP, Hartman security along with PA Announcements, will ask that all coolers, food items, beverages, etc. be moved back to the cooler area located just outside of the weigh-in room.
a. WITH HARTMAN MAKING THIS EXCEPTION FOR US, PLEASE AS COACHES AND ATHLETES, PLAN ON POLICING YOUR AREAS, PICKING UP TRASH AND RESPECTING THE RULES THEY ARE ASKING US TO FOLLOW.
b. BRING TRASH BAGS WITH YOU TO POLICE YOUR AREA AND CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF (LAST YEAR GODDARD KINDLY CLEANED THE FOOD AREA, THAT LOOKED LIKE A LAND-FILL FOR EVERYONE AT 5A/6A STATE. LET’S NOT LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN).
Respectfully,
Michael Church
