I am wanting to get ahold of someone that stayed in the Days Inn on Wanamaker this last Saturday night. My son is very ill due to an over exposure to chlorine and I was wanting to know if anyone else got sick. He wasn't even in the pool for an extended period of time either.

Our club also stayed there. After our little daughter swam that evening she also became very ill that night. In fact her throat swelled and she started weazing and coughing so bad I had to keep steaming the bathroom up and putting her in it just so she could breathe eazier. We had family bring us home Sunday while my son and husband stayed in Topeka because she had become so ill. She was in the pool twice Saturday for about 20 minutes each time.

Yikes!!! Not good at all. I would lodge a formal complaint to the corporate headquarters as you might be able to be reimbursed or get a free nights stay at a Days Inn in the future (just stay clear of the pool next time!)

i wrestled for wellington at state in 16 and under 215 and i stayed at days inn... when i was there i went in the hot tub it seemed to be fine but just walking by the swimming pool made my eyes burn... in the consolation semifinals i couldnt breathe and couldnt figure out why because i dont have athsma or any of those problems but definately there was a problem with that pool! kids were running out to the ice machine from the pool rubbing ice in their eyes because it appeared to burn really bad...there seemed to be a problem with drunk obnoxious people as well but that problem was taken care of

I remember when I was in kids wrestling the coaches pretty much forbade us from going into the pool.

If your suits faded out from the swimming it probably was the chlorine. Lots of places shock their pools with chlorine to handle the heavy swimmer load when the hotel is full. There really isn't a no peeing section of the pool. Hotel hot tubs are a real nightmare of nasty stuff. After a 20 minute visit in a hot tub an adult usually sweats a pint. Sweat is almost identical to urine. Amazing how many people sit in a hotel hot tub. Happy soaking.

If walking by the pool made your eyes burn and kids were running out of the water and putting ice on their eyes, Why would you get in the water?? We had the same problem at our hotel, I walked in the swimming area could smell the chlorine and chose not to get in.
