From what I heard, the format of the Wamego tournament was changed to a dual team tournament this year.
I was the former head coach at DeSoto and was very curious as to how Erisman did against Ross Taplin, but from what I understand their match was wrestled as an exhibition. I didn't get too many details on how or why it was wrestled as an exhibition, I am just assuming that as DeSoto and Abilene dualed each other that both wrestlers were held out of the teams line-up and the match was wrestled seperately.
The match (as I've heard through a few degrees of seperation so I apologize if it isn't 100% accurate):
Taplin took Erisman down in the first period. Taplin chose down in the second period, Erisman rode him the entire period but was unable to turn Taplin for points. The third period Erisman chose down and got away, but was unable to take Taplin down before time ran out. Taplin won 2-1.
