i too have heard that norton won, this time it came down to the heavy-weight match where norton needed a fall to win the tournament. sprigg pulled it off and from what i heard over the radio it sounded like the norton team raided the mat and carried the 260+ junior off the mat on their sholders

did anyone think this tourney would turn out this way after hoxies domination of the state tourney last year and all the returning placers they had?

will this trend of noron over hoxie continue after you take out Dodge city and Kaupan?

Hoxie will continue to be the team. I don't think it surprises too many people that Hoxie is not as good up and down the line-up as last year. They did lose some very good wrestlers that aren't being replaced with the same caliber, so it is easy to see Norton beating them with depth. On the other hand Hoxie still has the most, of the best studs and the tougher the tourney you will see Hoxie with more finalist than Norton, thus maintaining their dominance.

Well congratulations to Norton. But I will have to agree with fanantic in that the bigger the tournament, the more Hoxie's dominance will more than likely come into play. If I recall, on another post it showed the returning state points and Hoxie really should be head and shoulders above the rest. But hey, it is good to see teams competing and even beating them. I was at the Sainty tournament but I heard this morning that Lisa Hoxie, or I'm sorry, I mean Lisa Woody tried to wave Sprigg's pin off. What's up with that? Being in the NWKL we get to witness first hand the Woody/Hoxie relationship and it is disgusting.

Congrats to Norton! Not to take anything away from coach J. and his team but they should be thanking R. Ross for their win. If any of you saw the 119 lb. match between Broeckelman and the Oberlin boy you know what I mean. However great to see Norton get the win but I will have to agree with other posts- Hoxie still the team to beat. (In 119 lb. match Ob. takes Nt. down straight to his back - Nt. squeals and match stopped, takedown awarded but no backs, after 30 sec. Nt boy back up and going like a house afire!)

Just wanted to add that it is nice to see that ppl. all over the NWKL notice the Hoxie/Woody relationship. If she is refing and Hoxie is wrestling there is no doubt as to the outcome!

Pretty sure Mrs. Woody is a good and respected official. This isn't her first rodeo boys, she's been doing this a long time. She has no favoritism towards Hoxie. I'm from Hoxie and I'd have to disagree anyhow. Hoxie is polite and courteous towards referees, and that goes along ways believe it or not. If a call could go either way, its gonna go towards the team who is polite...it doesn't hurt anyways. So instead of blaming Mrs. Woody for leaning towards Hoxie, be a little more polite to the refs and maybe a call will go your way.

A "Professional" never, never lets a personal opinion reflect on the job they do.

To KyleDub:

Which Woody, mom or daughter, are you referring to. I have never witnessed either of the two at a high school event, however there are numerous individuals, who have attended the USAW Kansas Kids State Championships, who will disagree with you on both!

Mr. Salyer is absolutely correct about opinions on the mother and daughter Woodys officiating at Kids State. Bad, bad, bad!

Did Jason Schippers wrestle @ 145? Didn't see any results for 145 above.

If you've never been beaten, you've never been far away enough from home.

I was talking about Lisa Woody, I do believe. That is the mother, and say what ya want I think she is a good official. Your absolutely correct in saying that a personal opinion shouldn't be reflected on the mat. I said a call that could go either way, is more than likely going to the wrestler with a better attitude who is polite. I'll add to this comment by saying also the more aggressive wrestler has a good chance at getting the call. An offical is one who can make the correct decision without being biased. Bottom line, all I meant to say or bring up is that I don't think there is any sort of Woody/Hoxie connection, she is unbiased.

KyleDub: Are you also unbiased? I could be wrong, but aren't you related to a couple of wrestlers on the Hoxie team..(cough)???????

I believe that there needs to be an m in between the u and the b in Kyledub. In other words Kyledumb. Your comment about a personal opinion should not be reflected on the mat, yet an official's decision should be given to the wrestler who is polite. What world are you in? Heck, if I was from Hoxie I would say she is unbiased also.
