I think Paola will finish in the top 5. Nathan Payne is one of if not the best wrestler in 5A.

But to be serious some of the good 5A wrestlers gets no love from any of the other classes. Its like 5A dosen't exist.

good call cannon. Lets get rid of 5a and make a new 5-6a division. Then it will be as tough as 4a and 3-2-1a. right now 5a is tooo easy.....just look at bass from bonner springs being ranked number 1 at 215lbs. and his 3rd place at state last year.
He went into overtime in his pigtail match at the bobcat classic (he won) and was beat out of the tournament shortly thereafter.

I think the reason Bass isn't as great as he was last year is because he's been out of wrestling for a little bit. That doesn't mean 5A is to easy because one wrestler isn't doing as well as he did last year.

5A and 6A might not be as tough from top to bottom, but I think that they have the better wrestlers individually. The best wrestler in all weight classes this year comes from a 5A or 6A school. This is just my opinion though.

Hey Butts31,just wanted to let you know that Mike Wilderman put it to Marcus Bowman last night in a dual, and Bowman beat Ashpole earlier in the year. It should be a good match but I think Wilderman win win it! He looks tough at 130lbs.

uwantago- You shouldn't be so hard on your team , Spring Hill, by pointing out how bad 5a teams are. At Basehor-Linwood 5 of the 5A teams there beat you. You beat 5A Harmon. They brought four wrestlers to the tournament, total. Congradulations! I see what you mean by how tough you are. By the way Bass is ranked 4th in 5A and only won two matches at Basehor but that is two more than your 215 won.

What was the score of that match? Then I haved watched Jake wrestle for sometime and if the Jake that showed up at Newton is there, Wilderman could be in some trouble. If Jake wrestles like he did in Augusta, he could be in some trouble! So it will probably will be a good match, but I still like Jake!

It was 3-1 in OT, Marcus is really tough and I expect him to be in the state finals but Wilderman threw him around a lot and had a couple of chances for back points or a possible pin on one throw that ended up OB. I know Jake is tough and so are some others at that weight, we will just have to wait until FEB. to find out for sure!

leon- I am not being hard on my team. If you read my post, you will notice i said nothing about how good 4a was or Spring Hill is this year. Thanks for getting offended and looking up my home town so you can vent on us. But since you brought it up, yes i do think 4a is tough this year. I apologize for offending you by bringing up Bass of Bonner Springs and his misfortunes this year. I was just trying to tease Cannon a bit (he said its like 5a doesn't exit-----and my opinion is simply that 5a shouldn't exist)and voice my opinion about 5a being weak because they dont have as many teams competing as 4a. If you combined 6a and 5a, then the combined division would have 64 teams just like 4a and 3-2-1A and all would be fair. There would be no reason to dis 5a or 6a anymore. As for Spring Hill, unfortunately they graduated 8 seniors last year and this year is a rebuilding year. They have done a tremendous job of improving and have suprised a bunch of people by having the success they do.
Spring Hill is tough for a team comprised mostly of sophmores who haven't had much mat time. Also, the 5a teams that were at the bobcat were pretty tough. I believe Bonner Springs, Paola, and Shawnee Heights are all ranked at state where as Spring Hill is not ranked. Next year, Spring Hill will be back on top and probably dominating in two years. We will see.
Also, you shouldn't start attacking me or Spring Hill just because i pointed out that one particular 5a wrestler was ranked number one but didn't have a chance at placing at the Bobcat Classic. 5a does have some outstanding wrestlers, but seldomely are the 5th and 6th place guys even in the same league as the 1st and 2nd guys at 5a state. Look though last years brackets and you will notice a lot of champions in 5a who tech falled fellow placers. Look in a bracket in 4a, 321A, and even 6a and you will see a lot of one point matches or overtime matches or double overtime matches.
