After watching a VERY exciting and intense match between Weatherbee (TMP) and Baker (Hoxie), and Weatherbee winning in 2OT, i believe Weatherbee just set a new Kansas High School State Record, with a record of 44-1 as of right now, and with one match left for finals.
BEST OF LUCK!

Taplin's opponent was John Horsch a Junior from Fort Scott who placed fourth (4th) at the Coffeyville Regional.
Horsch season record entering the tournament was 14-17.
Equally impressive is Jessie Strawn (Holton) who will be Taplin's opponent in the 4A Championship Finals.
Taplin has two (2) falls in a cumulative time of 5:22.
Strawn has three (3) falls in a cumulative time of 5:11.

Obviously you didn't watch that match between Taplin and Strawn in the finals or you would know that Taplin did not pin him at all.

No, 9 seconds is not the state record. Larry Turner of Santa Fe Trail pinned an opponent in 5 seconds. I can’t remember if it was 1982 or 1983. It was at the Prairie View Invitational and the time tied a national record.

I thought that we were talking about State Tournament as in this past weekend
You have no control over what the other guy does. You only have control over what you do.

I watched it Petrosky and Ross did have him pinned for a good 4 seconds. But its okay he still won the match.

Hey Nigel, not only did Taplin NOT have Strawn pinned, it looked to me like another 30 seconds would have put Strawn in the lead. Ross was out of gas!!!! However, he did pull it out, and he is a lot of fun to watch!!
