Hi Mike.

Talked to Dad via phone after I got home from Lampe's Tournament of Champions this evening. Its 2nd hand info, so there might be a few errors.

He indicates Hoxie won a tightly contested dual 36-31, or something close to that.

Sainty by fall at 103
Sainty by forfeit at 112
Hoxie by forfeit at 119
Baker by fall over Loyd in 3rd period. Loyd was leading by a couple of points when Baker hooked up his cradle.
Sainty won at 130 - by major?
Hoxie at 135 - Moss over ?Geinger?
Gilliand, Schippers, Schippers by fall
Campbell by decision in a close match with Smull at 160
Ross decisioned Shipley at 171
Keller decisioned Gaede at 189
Walz decisioned beat Erwin at 215
Sainty by forfeit at 275

If someone can fill in the details and any mistakes, I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hoxie 36 St. Francis 31

103 #2 Richard SF, fall over Popp HX, 3 per.
112 Frewen SF, HX open
119 #1 Farber HX, SF open
125 #2 Baker HX fall over #4 Loyd SF 3 per.
130 Gienger SF dec. Nueschwander HX 9-3
135 Moss HX dec. Miller SF 7-4
140 #1 Gilliland HX fall over Gienger SF 1st. per
145 #1 Shippers HX fall over Rohweder SF 1st. per
152 #1 Shippers HX fall over #4 Hilt SF 1st. per
160 #4 Campbell HX dec. Smull SF 7-4
171 #2 Ross SF dec #5 Shipley HX 12-3
189 Keller SF dec. Gaede HX 5-3
215 #6 Walz SF dec. #4 Erwin HX 5-1
HWT. Swihart SF, HX open

it was a close dual, Loyd dominated Baker, until loyd ended up on the bad end of a scramble position, Shippers caught Hilt in scramble postion (i'd like to see that rematch) , Smull lost a reversal to Campbell with about 15 seconds left in the match attempting to turn him, losing 7-4, Ross dominated Shipley. Walz dominated Erwin

Hoxie started 7 seniors, St. Francis only had 2. Hilt at 152 & Keller at 189.
if Loyd would have won, St. Francis wins the dual. i know for a fact Loyd cant wait to get a hold of Baker again...and the possibilty definately exisits with the league tourney, regionals and possibly state...things are starting to get good!

Concerning the Loyd-Baker match, it is definitely going to be a lot harder next time for Baker. I am sure that the fall Loyd recieved only made him more pumped. 125 is going to be a tough weight, I am excited to see what regionals brings!

Dominated??? I'm not sure where you get the idea Loyd and Walz dominted their Hoxie opponents. Loyd did score 2 takedowns in the 1st period, while Baker had an excape, reversal and 2 near fall pts. First period ended, Baker - 5 Loyd - 4. Second period Loyd scored again on a takedown. Second period ends Loyd - 6 Baker - 5. Third period Baker scored an escape, takedown, and 2 near falls points before he hooked up the cradle in which Loyd was pinned. Walz and Erwin ended the first period scoreless. Second period had Walz with a penalty point and an escape. Third period Erwin scored an escape and was trying a desperation takedown with time running out. Final score: Walz - 4 Erwin - 1. Just thought I would try and clarify how these matches went---exciting, hard-fought matches on both sides.

Thanks for the clarification. I agree totally. I also know Baker was sick as a dog through December and he still isn't up to par. Hopefully by the end of the season he'll be 100%. GO FRANCIS- we love it when you come out to wrestle!!!!!!!!!!! And no-- that has nothing to do with ST. FRANCIS.

MULLETS ROCK
I'm glad you're sick of hearing from me. The thing I enjoy most in life is annoying other people. And if you're so sick of hearing from me than why do you keep reading my posts?
GO FRANCIS!!!!!!!

sab,
YOu are correct, Dylan did not dominate Baker but it was a heck-of-a-match by two great wrestlers. If Baker doesn't get the cradle hooked up for the pin, he more than likely wins on points, but who knows. We all know that Baker can hook up the cradle from almost anywhere but we have also seen him win without it. Looking forward to many more matches between these two throughout the year.

I was unable to be in Hoxie to watch the Loyd/Baker match, but I heard it was a tough one. They are both excellent wrestlers! However, I have confidence that the next occasion the two of them meet, Loyd will come out on top. Keep working hard Loyd!
