How many State Champs from last year repeated the feat this year, and how many fell by the way side as one hit wonders? Did some of last years champs spend too much time reading about how great they were for an entire year and lose focus? It seems there are alot of new State champs this year especially in 5A. Thoughts???

Derek Faught, the Pilinkton kid (160 3-2-1A), Mike Stienmetz, Josh Carrol.
Those are the ones that immeadiatly come to mind.
I'm sure there are others though.

Matt Gilliland, Doug Hoover

I know Metzler from Newton @ 119, Hoover from Kapaun @ 125, Ryan Lien from Goddard @ 130, Mark Dugan from Carroll @ 140, Cody Richardson from Ark City @ 189 were the 5 repeat champs from 5a. These are all the ones from 5a, not sure about the other classes. I also hate to tell you, but Carroll was not a repeat champ this year. Although a two time champ, he did lose to Hemmerling from Hutch in this years finals.

Lein did not win it this year (beat by Souzas) and Cody Richardson graduated last year, his brother Ty Richardson did win it this year.
