I read in the Topeka Capital Journal today that Patrick Vogelsberg won the 4A 171 State Championship, making him the third Vogelsberg brother to win the state championship. J.J. won the 4A HWT title in 1990, Matt won 215# title in 1998 and 1999, and Patrick this year at 171. I was wondering if there were any other wrestling families who have had three or more brothers win state championships?

Some outstanding brother tandems that quickly come to mind are 1)Henry, Louis, Ralph, & Jerry Madden from Effingham as well as 2)Jay & Tim Coder &3) Frank & Doug Speer & 4)Noah & Brandon Clouse from ACCHS. Also from the Big 7 league are 5) Matt & Eric Koehler from Nemaha Valley. 6) Pinning sensations Tim & Tom Dozier of Louisburg. They don't grow em any tougher than the 7)Napiers & 8)Roarks of Columbus. Other family names synonymous with Kansas wrestling championships are 9)Holbeins of Hays. 10) Drehers of Plainville. 11) Gables of St. Francis.
Newton has the 12)Thaws & Norton the 13)Hahns traditions. Also 14)Weber- Pleasant Ridge. 15)Rays of Clay Center. 16)Drakes of Andover. The following also boasts of multiple winners....Ark City: 17)Ramirez, 18)Borrer, & 19)Hernandez.
Concordia: 20)Dong & 21)Ngo, & Beloit with 22)Treasters, 23)Hewitts, 24)Johnsons, & 25)Adams. Oh yeah..Weilerts from **26)Wamego. These are just some that I'm familiar with. I'm sure there are alot of others. & just a thought... seems like alot of arguing over who is the best at each weight, ...this is one vote to bring back grand state at a centrally located venue the weekend following the State Tourney with proceeds going to where it all starts.. Our State Kids Federation Organization. Hello to all. Kevin

Joe was the only Dreher that was a state champ although his older brother Rick was a state placer. Matt Gilliland's (2 time) Uncle was also a 2 time state champ in '83 and '84.

The Hahn Brothers of Norton won 7 State Titles and 13 (yes 13 state medals !!!) during the 1980's & 90's.
Kyle 1979, 1980
Kurt 1980, 1981
Kent 1982, 1983
Kendall 1990 (To win his one state title he kept Jonathan Dong-Concordia from being a 4 x State Champ.)

I am from winfield and good friends with Tyson Biddle. He does have two other brothers one of which I know won state. The other is a deffinate possibility. Along with Tyson's that would be another tremendous trio.

I'll add a sidenote to Coach Johnson's list of Hahn's state medals. They have an uncle (Evan Whitney)that was a 2x champ and a first cousin (Shane Wyatt) that was a 1x champ with a 3rd and 4th place medal as well. The Hahn's and Shane Wyatt's Grandfather is Evan Whitney's dad. It is an impressive line of great wrestlers from that man!

NCHS fan,
Im sure glad that you have boned up on your Norton History of family tradition.
But you forgot one .....Richard Wyatt also won state in the 60's and he is the father of Shane Wyatt, its not your fault. Its kinda hard to keep track of such a long line of excellent Bluejay wrestlers.
I see a few little brothers coming up and maybe we can see another dynasty start.

My sister-in-law used to cheer for Augusta a few years ago and she always was commenting on the Biddles. I know there was Big Biddle, Middle Biddle and Little Biddle.

What about the triplets? Weren't Verl, Merle, and Earl all state champions? I am talking about the Seger triplets who wrestled at Ulysses in like 78 and 1979. I know these triplet brothers led Ulysses to the State title in 1979. I know they did not all three win the same year, but I am thinking that all three were state champions in their career. Can anyone tell me for sure?

Weren't there at least two, maybe three Geyer brothers win state titles at Leoti?
