Why are some of the teams returning more points lower in the standings?

Just like "The Swayz" to ask a question that I am sure he could answer on his own, but I will throw out a couple of explanations because I am bored right now:
First of all, yes, it does take a lot of time to compile all of this information for the wrestling community so I appreciate the compliments.
Second: In the case of Holton who returns 50 points, If Strawn and Roberts don't get any help then they will probably finish around 10th or 11th just like last season.
Third: A good portion of Augusta's returning points came from Josh Weaver who is probably lost for the season.
Fourth: I have no idea what many of these teams have, so i assume that returning state wrestlers will move up from year to year. Typically a team with more qualifiers may have the potention to score more points so they will get the nod.
Fifth: I can only work with the information that coaches are generous enough to supply to me, otherwise your guess is as good as mine
Sixth: I am aware of several very good freshman that will score major points at state, but we have to see how they do at this level before anybody wants their names thrown in there amongst the preseason preview or rankings (see Kansas basketball.)
Seventh: This is all done for fun and to get information out about the 4A schools as best we can. The preseason top team has never matched the top team at the end of the year, so it really doesn't matter, however last season I did successfully predict that Eudora would finish 30th, which we did.
I hope that this helps clear some things up.

Excellent work, Coach DeWitt!! Also, many thanks for the wonderful tournament you host in December. Good competition and superb hospitality. 2-day tournaments take alot of planning, preparation and participation. Job well done!

Thank you, we are hoping to host the Regional Tournament this year as well. I have added Fort Scott, Jefferson West, Osawatomie and Tonganoxie to the PREVIEW and will continue to add as i get information in.

Chapman doesn't reply because right now, Jeff has his hands full with junior high and kids federation. Plus, it really doesn't make that much difference where you are ranked, it just makes a difference in how well you playl.... as evident by our football team.

I agree and disagree with Mom4. I think it is right that it doesn't matter what you are ranked, but for us fans of wrestling I think it is important for them to reply. Yes kids wrestling and Jr High does keep your hands full and keep you busy but it is important to stay on top of the High School things as well. I am sure they is a computer class at Champman were amybe a manager or wrestler could type up and send Coach DeWitt something.
But I guess if they want to be sticks in the mudd and keep us guessing until this weekend that is fine too

Coach DeWitt, Dalton Kraft 6th ranked @ 160 isn't going to be wrestling until next semester and will be at 145lbs. 160 right now if filled by Cody Lang, who won the Osborne Tournament.

He was a small 160 last year Curtis, he only weighed about 152 most of the time.

I was wondering why Chanute wasnt in the top 20. At Valley Center they only lost to Clay Center by 15 and they led most of the dual, that was with two of their starters missing so I think they should be on the top 20 list.

Because Coach Albright is a big fat sandbagger. Yes they looked very good at our tournament last weekend and will be a top team in the SEK if not the state....so....guess I missed that one. I am sure that I'll miss some more.
