Todd Bell is the best wrestler this year. He didnt make it to state because he choked at districts.

i think todd bell would have taken state at 130 if he went. I was in the semi's at districts and i was wrestling cory burton and i was beating him 13-2, it was the third period and he threw a LUCKY throw that the only reason it happened is because i was tired and wrestling STUPID. So he pinned me and got 5th at state because of my screw up at districts. whats that tell u that i was beating him by 9 points. it tells me that i should have been there instead of him. tell me what u think of it.

Edited Remark (I just noticed that this topic was introduced in May 2002 so this topic was addressing the 2002 State Tournament Year. I got confused when it popped up at the top of the topics in November 2002. The following is my early assessment of this potential age and weight group for the upcoming 2003 tournament year.)
This is some wild speculation because how do you even know who is going to end up in this weight class. It has caught my interest though since I'm pretty sure that my son is going to end up in this one this year. So here are some other wrestlers who need to be considered in the hunt if they end up in this weight group that I know of and what I believe their recent records are (I mostly know District 1).
Dustin Moses (Maize): 2002 3rd at State, 12 & under 120, 2001 1st at State, 10 & Under 100, 2000 2nd at State 10 & under 85, 1999 1st at State 76 & Under 8 & under
Boaz Beard (Valley Center) although I would guess he will end up at a lighter weight : 2002 6th at State 12 & under 105, 2001 2nd at State 10 & under 110, 2000 1st at State 10 & under 95, 1999 1st at State 8 & Under 80lbs
Ryan Garrett (Team Lightning): 1st year at 12 & under, but consider 2002- 3 national tournament 1st places, 1st at State 10 & under 120, 2001 1st at State 10 & under 110
EJ Walter (STA): 2002 1st at District 1 12 & under 115, 2001 4th at State 10 & under 110, 1999 4th at State 8 & under 100
Long Shots might be the other top four 2002 placers from 10 & under 120 assuming that everyone moves up one weight class: Cameron Rapp Garden City, Jacob Nowak STA, & Dylan Bowman Wellingon (who has placed 4th at State the last three years in a row). These guys are long shots since it is their lst year at 12 & Under, but who knows. They might not qualify for State since it is their first year at 12 & under but it would not surprise me to see at least one of these three place at State this year.
I know there are many other potential winners and placers that I have not mentioned either because I do not know of them (other districts ) or because I think it is impossible to predict who is really going to end up in this weight group at year end. Some of the other threats that I know from District 1 (Travis Adcox, CJ Randall, and Nathan Kriss to name a few), I believe might end up either at 120 or 140. I think my final prediction in the next paragraph might end up in 120.
My conclusion is if all of the above mentioned do end up in this weight my early pick based on past history would be: DUSTIN MOSES from the Maize club.
Good luck to all wrestlers in this age and weight group for 2003. As always I'm sure there are going to be some surprises.

That caught my attention too, my son will also be close to that weight. He weighs 117 right now, so 120 will probably include him, ( although 130 is not out of the question either). There are many accomplished 2nd time 12 & under wrestlers from District 2 & 3 who will be at or near the 130 class: J. Hensley (my son), M. Tischhauser (probably 130), has excellent technique. D. Moses (I'm guessing will be at 140), is very strong. R. Cotton, is heavily muscled, probably will be at 115. S. Elliott has beaten some of the best, and I'm guessing he will be at 110. These are just some of the guys returning from our area. How they will fare against each other, and against the new guys, can only be a guess. So, best wishes to all Kansas wrestlers...

Like I said I was only somewhat knowledgable about District 1. Wow, I guess District 2 & 3 have some accomplished wrestlers coming back for their second year at 12 & under. The young wrestlers that Mr. Hensley mentioned in their 1st year at 12 & under had an incredilble showing in the state tournament last year. At 100 1st R. Cotton, 2nd S. Elliot, at 105 1st J. Hensley, at 110 1st M. Tischauser. That is incredible. These guys are all coming back?!!! Oh well. My advice though is that they all need to closely watch what they are eating over Thanksgiving and the other upcoming holidays. It would not be good for them to gain too much weight this year. We don't want to bunch them all up in 130, just teasing. Thank you for the update on District 2 & 3 in this approximate weight group.

Hey Husker, who is your son? The more I think about it, the more I think Cotton will be at 120, or 130. Elliott at 115, and B. Beard at 130. If R. Garrett and M. Tischhauser end up in the same group, I will want to see that match. I'm not sure if we've seen Garrett wrestle, but we know Tischhauser. And he is awesome! Yes, all those guys are coming back. Do you know anything about the kid who beat Moses at state last year?

Ghens:
My son is Jacob Nowak, STA. He took third at State last year at 10 & under, 120. He only lost two matches last year and they were both to Ryan Garrett. Unfortunately, he had to wrestle Ryan in the semi-final so Jacob did not get to wrestle for second place, but you can't control what side of the bracket you get on. Jacob got pinned by Ryan at Salina in the third period, but only lost to him 6-2 at State (we felt pretty good about that showing). Jacob weighs 127 right now and is growing so he could end up at 140, depending on where his teammate EJ Walter ends up. EJ is a second year 12 and under and handles Jacob pretty well at practice and EJ pinned Jacob in their only match two years ago at the 2001 Johnson County Classic. EJ is a bigger threat to place at State in this division than Jacob. This year could be a challenge for Jacob and we would be very pleased if he just made it to State.
I don't know who beat Dustin Moses last year, but unfortunately, Jacob drew Dustin in the first round of State in 2001. It was not pretty, worse than Nebraska vs. KSU today. I'm kind of surprised that you think Dustin may end up at 140. I think he was wrestling at 115 early last year. We are looking forward to the start of the season. I'm impressed with your son's record and I will try to watch him wrestle this year. Actually I want to see all of these young wrestlers that you have mentioned. They are quite a group. I wish you and your family continued success. Thank you again for your updates.

Jed Mamie beat Dustin Moses at State last year. Jed took second to Brantley Thornton from Caney, who is an excellent wrestler. Jed will be 14U this year and I'm pretty sure Brantley will, too.

You arent the best wrestler in that weight!! because there are lots of very good wrestlers that are WAY better that you and when i did beat you i was only down by like 4 at the end of the 2nd period when you did an illegal throw and pulled some muscles in my back and neck!! i couldnt go on anymore that match and you and your dad were yelling at me and calling me names because i couldnt continue! i know that if you hadnt of done that to me i would be a state placer because i had to wrestle with a messed up back and neck!!

Marvio Tischhauser is wrestling in Abilene middle school at 127. He will be a 2nd year 12U at 130 or above I think. It sounds like a very good bunch of wrestlers at that size. Does anyone know how the others are doing in middle school wrestling? But, he is weighing 125 after practices at this time. We have not cut any weight. There are a lot of great wrestlers that were mentioned early in this topic and the season sure looks interesting.
