I think Tyson might beat Trulliner this time. All their matches have been real close.

Didn't Tieben beat Matt Smith at Derby or Newton? If Manion beats Patterson it's all over. 140 between Cisper and Rexroad. 215 a tough one too.

Why does everybody keep mentioning Manion at 130? He took 3rd at regionals. He won't be a factor.
112 and 160 are the best weights in 6A. While Garcia has to be the favorite at 112, he could be challenged by a number of guys-Baldridge, Bohning, Ball, or Knox. Ball vs. Knox is one of the best first round matches at state by the way.
160 is loaded with Chadwick, Stewart, Walter, and Johnston. Chadwick already beat Stewart this year, Stewart and Walter have had four really close matches throughout the year, and Walter and Chadwick have wrestled in the medal round at state each of the last two years. Wintz, Madill, and Self aren't bad either. Should be a fun one...

Manion keeps getting mentioned because he's one of the best at 130. He lost to essex who he's already beat twice in the semis that's why he took 3rd. And if you knew anything then you would know that doestn't matter. The manhattan kid should have been the two seed anyway he's not that good.

What place did Manion take at state last year? Oh yeah, that's right, he didn't place. I was at the regional and I watched him wrestle. He's pretty good at throwing elbows when he starts losing, I noticed. I also saw him get tech'd in the first period against Manhattan at Ottawa earlier this year. I'm sure he's a good kid, and I don't have anything against him, but he's got a lot to prove.
By the way, the Manhattan kid who's "not that good" has beaten Essex every time they've wrestled this year. And if you knew how wrestlers are seeded at tournaments, you'd know that a state placer like Johnson gets seeded higher than non-placers. It's called criteria.

Yeah jackass I know the criteria.Everyone knows who should have been seeded one and it wasn't your boy.Youcan have criteria over someone and not be the better wrestler. We'll see at state and Johnson is lucky he got the easy side of the bracket.

I think 112 will be interesting. The Garden City regional top four is the top four in the state. Here is my surprise pick, Jared Patterson at 130. I think he has already beaten Manion. He is a freshmen, but when he is on he is tough to beat. Have two brothers ever won state the same year?

Here's how the 130 regional went down: Manion, Essex, and Johnson all had close to the same record. However, as happens in all wrestling seeding meetings EVER, if a guy has placed and the other two haven't, then he should be the top seed. Also, Johnson was 1-0 against Essex, and I believe Manion and Essex had split. Therefore Johnson had two things going for him. And to top it off, Essex beat Manion, making the season series between them 2-1. Johnson then went on to beat Essex in the finals on a call that was very questionable, and he probably should have lost, but time did run out, and the refs made one of the few accurate calls they made all day. (it was like the patriots-raiders fumble thing. everyone knows it was a fumble, but the rules say....) If Johnson has the easier side of the bracket, it is because he won in regionals over a quality wrestler. And Manion got techfalled in the first. I'm crappy, and wrestle on a middle school level, and have never gotten techfalled in the 1st. STill, he's a great wrestler, and I pick him for 2nd or 3rd.

ManhattanFan: I can understand why you think Manion won't be a factor, but I think you've only seen two of Manion's matches this year, both losses, and neither very pretty. These are two of only five losses he's had this year. You haven't seen his quality wins, including a pin against Essex in Newton, and major decisions gainst Essex and Josh Hermreck in duals. Manion is very good, but in streaks. This is why I agree with wrestling4life. If Manion beats Patterson in the first round, I think he'll win out. If he loses, it may be a short weekend.
Also a fact about last year at state, since it matters to you: Manion beat the sixth placer fairly easily in the first round. He lost to the third placer in the second. Shawn Bunch sent an excellent wrestler (Malone from Emporia, 4th place) to the back side of the bracket who beat Manion in the consolation semis. There is no shame in this, and it doesn't mean Johnson is better this year. That is going to be decided this weekend.
