I just wondered how you base the rankings. I'll be using Adam Smith from Colby as my example. Now Adam is a good wrestler, there is no denying that, but don't you think he should have to prove himself a little more before giving him the number 4 spot at 215? Just wondering what everyone else thinks on this matter.

I think EVERY ranker from 6a to 3-2-1a need a round of applause, they put forth the maxium time and effort to try and get every weight as close ass possiable. also it is getting towards the end of the season where wrestlers apparently have proved themselves one way or another otherwise they wouldn't be up there. so maybee instead of complaining about the rankings you should just let the poeple who do them know that there time, hard work, and effort is greatly applauded by all wrestling fans. so this late in the season just let state do the talking

Good call oldwrestlingfan! I applaud the efforts of people like Harry LaMar, Kit Harris and the rest of the raters for their tireless and obviously thankless unpaid jobs. I would hate to get put in that position.
Everyone needs to remember that the ratings are not exactly scientific and certainly aren't meant to be the Word of God. They are there to keep us posted on the leading guys at each weight; the last word comes Feb. 23 in Wichita and Hays.

Yes I guess you are both right, so rankers, keep up the good work.

Smith placed last year in the same weight. I know that doesn't mean anything about this year. Missing all season surely hurt him. However after Greer and possibly Bedore the #215 class hasn't exactly set the world on fire.(in 4A) When you look around for someone worthy of ranking you would have to consider Smith based on last year.
Can anyone tell me why Smith has missed all year?

He tore a muscle in his leg. And i guess it caused some nerve damage. He has been having trouble with it, but i guess he decided to tuff it out.

I strongly agree to what Old Wrestling Fan has stated. It would be great if these rankings could be more accurate, but if I understand correctly, the Rankers go off of information that they have. Therefore if some coaches do not or even will not forward the needed information to these individuals then what are they to do? My input is I think it would be better if some how a page could be established where we good go and check out individual records, with this information being a running total through out the season. If someone could let me know how we could do this, I would be interested in helping maintain this page myself.
