Take this for what it worth because I am bias. My 6A wrestler of the year would be Tommy Edgmon. The only senior 3-time state champ in 6A.
Sophmore year 3 loses. Junior year only loss to Ashmore-TX.
Senior year loss to Ashmore-Tx and a 6-5 loss to Crumbliss in a dual match.
Also has given Deshazer 2 of his 3 career losses.
We were fortunate to be able to work with such a talented young man with a great work ethic and heart. Two of his state titles were won when injured and wrestling at less than 100%.
Cisper from STA is also deserving as he dominated the 189 pound weight class this year.

Mr. Salyer, It is one thing for KIDS to belittle one another. It is quite another for an adult to post a juevenile comment such as "should we not also rename the Peterson roll the Peterson flop!" You should be ashamed of yourself for taking part in the Peterson bashing. Everyone who read his posts KNOWS he might have been setting himself up BUT he placed and that is quite an accomplishment.

If the award is for the year and not for an entire career I would consider Dustin Foster.
Undefeated State Champion
34-0 with 29 pins
2X State Champion
In spite of not being favored to repeat as champion defeated a great wrestler for the second year in a row in the finals.
I commend Austin Kingsbury for being a great wrestler and a great competitor.
Was able to accomplish this without wrestling for a "power" or "tradition rich" program.
I am a little biased because he is my son but I believe his accomplishments speak for themselves.
I love you Dut.

Nurse,
Be careful. Even though BTKSalyer is behind bars as of now, doesn't mean he can't come out.
Heck, he's been living working for the government for years - measuring people's grass with a ruler. Filing "noisy dog" complaints, working for the church, and whatnot for years. I'm sure he'll find a way out.

Am I being grounded? Back to the original post...Dustin Foster had an outstanding season. Way to go MomFoster for raising not only a competitor but a respected nice young man.

Tommy injury defaulted in the finals to give his knee another week of healing. They did not even attempt to wrestle the match.

I have to agree on the Edgmon thing. That is who I voted for, like that matters. A 3x Champ with great career wins. Only losses came when injured (hope you don't take that as an excuse)and against the Texas stud. Cornejo must be mentioned as one of the state's best regardless of class.

Chris Pursel 3X state champ. He isn't undefeated but he did wrestle the 4A, 5A and 6A state champions and the runner-ups in two of the classes and has a good winning percentage with these 5 guys. He also had the most dominating finals match in 3A this year.

For the groups' consideration:
Michael Sprigg--Norton Community High School
4x state placer --ALL AT 275 4th in 4A as a freshman 2nd in 3-2-1A as a sophomore 1st in 3-2-1A as a junior (defeated the defening state champ in the finals, in overtime to give Norton the team championship 1st in 3-2-1A as a senior; won by fall in the championship match
37-0 his senior season
Defeated the 4A & 6A state champs and 5A runner-up this year

My vote would go to 3-2-1a_140 aka Kenny Tyler. Kenny was one of four wrestlers to go undefeated; is a two-time state champion and won what I believe was the hardest weight class in 321a. Victories over Brady LaMar and Tracy Jordan were great and the weight class also included Scott Gregory, Luke Pfannenstiel, Cody Hazard, Jordan Gienger, Kelly Younkin and more.
