The website http://www.thequallytalk.com has posted its first Iowa rankings of the season and thought this might be of interest to those of you who follow Basehor's Bobocat Classic. Defending Classic champion Glenwood comes into the season ranked No. 2 (behind defending state champion Waterloo Columbus) in Class 2A (Kansas 4A) with eight wrestlers ranked in the top 10 at their weight. Unrelated to the Bobcat Classic, I looked up class AAA for Iowa and am proud to see former Chapman, KS native Russel Weakly ranked in the top spot @112:

Early look at possible 171 roster which was a monster class from last year shows everyone could be back except for Payne-Paola. Cisper, Malloy, Pursel, Weller should all be 171 again. It could be fun again with the #5 from Iowa in there as well.

If you think Weller will make 171 you haven't seen him lately. He was disappointed last year without making it to state, that he hit the gym in disgust and is a pretty ripped up 189 pounder for the upcomming year.

Yeah, he was a pretty big 171 and he's so tall that he's got a good frame to build on. I just assumed he'd be going 189 this year.

From what I hear, he's a light 189lb but has gotten a lot quicker in the off season and hit the weights hard. I asked if he would go back to 171 and the answer was no that 171 was too far for him to go, that he'll just have to give up a few pounds at 189.

Yeah, he shouldn't have any trouble wherever he goes. Him not going out of the first period at state was one of the more impressive things I've ever seen.
