Who is the best and who has the best wrestlers who will stand out in topeka at 112 and 119?

Although Shawnee Heights is not 6A, I would say that on paper they are the team to beat this year in Topeka. They have the second most returning points from state in 5A. Seaman is another strong team in Topeka and always is giving SH all they can handle. Those two school have been the dominant wrestling powers in the city over the past 7 or so years. There is always a 3rd team that comes up and is strong. Some possible schools for that would be Topeka High or Topeka west who both have some very good wrestlers. Overall though I would look for SH or Seaman to be the best team this year.

Shawnee Heights is going to be pretty good this year, but you can't overlook Topeka High. We have a but load over seniors and six returning state qualifiers and i have a feeling that as a team we want to win. So i am just saying don't overlook us.

Just wondering if Coach Barnett is helping with wrestling at Rural. He has always pushed his football players towards wrestling.

Our kids club wrestle's at Rural. From what I've heard, he is encouraging his players to try wrestling. Would like to see him get involved with the wrestling team. I think he could put the spark back into WRHS wrestling like he has football.

OF COURSE SHAWNEE HEIGHTS IS GOOD WITH TANNER, PHIL HART AND BLAKE MALLOY AND OTHERS, BUT SEAMAN HAS GUYS THIS YEAR WHO CAN GIVE UP A FIGHT THIS YEAR SO I WOULD EXPECT IT TO BETWEEN SHHS AND SHS THIS YEAR AND TOPEKA HIGH HAS A FEW GOOD GUYS COMING BACK LIKE RUSSEL WASHINTON AND MAT FOSTER BUT WASHBURN RUAL IS A TEAM THAT DOESNT HAVE MANY GUYS COMING BACK AND AS FOR BARNETT TRYING TO GET FOOTBALL PLAYERS TO WRESTLE HE A GOOD MAN BUT IT DIDNT HELP TO BEAT SEAMAN VIKING FOOTBALL.

This could be a very interesting year for wrestling in Topeka. The hands on favorite should and will be Shawnee Heights. But as some of you have stated Seaman will give Heights a good run for their money. Seaman will have only three seniors on their squad at this time with two of them, McGee and Miller being state placers from last year. The team to watch will be Topeka High. They have a tremendous coach in Beau Vest and if he can get the numbers out for wrestling then they should be vastly improved. As for Washburn Rual, M M not sure how you can relate a Football loss to Wrestling as Rual has always had a good wrestling team. If they could just get a coach to stick around they might start showing some consistency. No matter what it should be a fun and exciting year for Wrestling in the Capitol City.

well of course heights is the best team in topeka and with influences from great wrestlers like gardner they might stay on top..... but what about their leauge....that emporia team is pretty good huh???

I'd say if Shawnee Heights has a chance to beat emporia...it's this year. They have a pretty solid line up from 145-HWT with guys like Gardner and Waechter to bring up the front

If Shawnee Heights is the best team in Topeka, who is the best team in Shawnee County? Is it itsy bitsy Rossville who will beat up on the bigger schools again?? I think Rossville will again be in the running for the Shawnee county title.
