I know it's over a month away and a lot of it will be based off of the next few tournaments, but with nothing else to talk about, who does everyone think will be going to the Metro Classic?

top seinor wrestler in each weight class from each side of the metro. KS vs. MO

Must live within 75 miles (i believe) of KC to qualify. although we have had wrestlers from as far as fort scott. depensds on what part of KC you are talkin about.

i believe it will be a tough groiup to choose from this year.

Garnett is right on the border of the 75 miles border, I am sure that they will include Anderson County. Who do you think from AC would qualify?

I know at the metro classic that the wrestlers wrestle one weight lower, so dont yell at me for putting them at one weight lower.

Possible Kansas Lineup:
103- Cody Hamilton(CH), J.J. Pittman(AG)
112- Tim Munyan(STA), Ross Devoe(CB), Cory Bloodgood(SPH), Garret Harding(WF), Karl Brown(BC)
119- Chino Elsrode(OLS), Charles Knox Jr.(WW), Dusty Briggs(GC)
125- Matt Somers(LFS)
130-
135-
140- Sequoyia Hill(WHS), Nick Clayton(SMS)
145- Sean Curran(LV), Mike Manion(WHS)
152- Conor Fitzgerald(OLS), Dane Hammett(BV), Ryan Kromer(GC)
160- Mike Steinmetz(TUR)
171-
189-
215- Mark Robinson(SME)
275- Ray Carrera(SMN), Garret Jones(BVNW)

I have a feeling quite a few names I mentioned probably arent in the metro area, but just threw them out anyways. Correct me my fellow posters.

I don't think that Wichita would be considered within the 75 miles of the metro area (closer to 200 miles) and I know that they wouldn't stretch the 75 mile boundary to include Garden City (~450 miles). Especially because of all the fuss from last year when they stretched the boundaries a little too far for some of the MO fans who got on here and whined about it.

I wish it was KS BEST against MO best. The way it is now - MO seems to have an unfair advantage. Many POWER HOUSE programs in the Metro area from the MO side (Blue Springs, Oak Park, Park Hill, Oak Grove, etc). No power house programs in the metro area from the KS side... At least none that I can think of. . .

I heard that Steinmetz will be at 152 or 160 for the nationals, he has been weighing around 165 all year so he could take a lower weight.

As far as AC goes the only kids who could qualify for the metro classic would be Keegan Barnes 135, Eddie Gatlin 140, or Tyson Adams at 145. But I don't know who else would compete for those spots, so there might be someone better for the job.

For Senior Nationals you can't wrestle in a weight lower then the lowest weight you wrestled in your Senior year.
So if he wrestle one duel at 160, then wrestled 171 the rest of the year, he can go 160 at Nationals but he can not go 152.

I believe that each wrestler gets an "8 pound" weight allowance for the Metro Classic (e.g. you may weigh-in at 160 to wrestle the 152 lb division). There is no rule tieing your participation to any "certification".

With the Metro Classic moved back a week much of the outcome will come down to conditioning. It will be two weeks after the KS State and 3 weeks after MO State tournament.

(Note: Please correct me if any of this is incorrect.)

sometimes, with the 8-pound allowence, they move kids around. lets say that 3 189 pounders are better than any 215, they will use the 89 at 215 and even have 2 matches at a weight class.

cochran from GE is also a senior, i believe at 215. He would be good in there.

At 215 the Turner kid is pretty good too. He beat Cochran 6-4, but Cochran beat Robinson 3-1, and then Robinson beat the Turner kid 10-4.

Plus, didn't Stewart lose to the Bishop Miege kid? He'll probably be pretty out of it coming back this late.

You better watch out, someone's catching up to you.

Why dont Missouri and Kansas have a best vs the best dual instead of this metro classic w/ half of ur best wrestlers. And better yet, why not have anyone eligible for the the best of the best dual, opposed to the only being a senior rule. i think that would settle the "who is better debate". Im sure they have talked about this, what is keeping both states from doing this?

1.) NFHS rules prohibit participation in "all-star" events if you have eligilibility remaining (i.e you have to be a senior and the season must be over.)

2.) Let us not forget why we have the Metro Classic. It is to both showcase/publicize the sport in the Kansas City area - but most importantly to honor seniors and raise money for the scholarship fund. "Winning" is only a sidelight.

3.) I believe Cochran has now dropped to 189. I imagine whoever wins between him and Page (Paola) in the Frontier finals (projected) would be the favorite to be selected to represent Kansas vs. Louis Caputo of Blue Springs (no small task I am afraid).
