Wow Ive been keeping an eye on a bright spot out of Hutchinson. Trinity High School Wrestler Chandler Hart is off to a good start and looks to be the one to beat. Ive been watching this kid since he was 5 and wow is he impressive. Id really like to see him and Hoxies 140 go at it. I heard he was good but ive yeat to see him wrestle. Who will win 140?

I dont know who will win at 140 but i do know a pretty good 140lber and i think that he will have a spot on the state podium this year his name is Phillip Mendoza of Cherryvale he has got of to a really good start this year he is 5-0 after a really hard tourny at Fort Scott. I just thought that i would tell you that he was a 145 last year but wanted to drop this year and almost every day in practice he is weighting arounding 135 or 137 so i think that is really good.

Matt Gilliland is @ 140 for Hoxie. 3 time (soon to be 4) state champion. He also won the Cliff Keen Reno tournament last year.

Because we don't have a very big team and if he goes down to 135 the that mean he will beat are other 135lb kid and that kid doesn't want to go up to 140 because he isn't good enough to wrestle 140 i think so anyway. If he was to go to 135 then the that mean we would have another open weight class so he is really helping the team out and i don't think that his dad wants him to loose weight anyway. That is why is doesn't wrestle 135lb

Have you guys ever herd of Mat Gilliland from Hoxie. I don't know what you guys are thinking but any of those wrestlers will not even come close to this kid. I can't beleive you would even say that if you have not seen him wrestle. You guys can think what you want but evidently you have no clue about Mat G.

Yes we've all heard of Matt Gilliland to some standard, nothing against him, he is a great wrestler, but also- of course he will be a four time state champ not mentioning he has hardly any steady compitition in his weight....

because he doesnt' ever have to worry about his weight.. and right now it's about being a team player

It is way too early in the wrestling season to begin pointing out that there is "hardly any steady competition" at any particular weight class. some competitors have yet to get down to the weight that they will wrestle at regionals. as for 140, I am sure that there is some good competition, and if everyone that is judged to be steady avoids 140 and goes to another weight, then Mr. Gilliland must be a lot better than some would credit him for. bottom line is, whether he wins or loses, the quality guys at 140 will not go to another weight just to avoid him. I am sure he will have to win or lose his last title against just as good of competition as anyone else.

I know Mat is a three time state champ and I certainly am not indicating he isn't special. I am not sure any of the folks mentioned here are his caliber but...........before you all make him sound unbeatable take a good look at last years title match.
