There were a total of 10 teams. They split the fella's up into two 5 man pools (if there were enough) and then the wrestler who went 3-0 or 4-0 wrestled the 3-0 or 4-0 wrestler from the other pool for 1st and 2nd. Then the wrestler who went 3-1 wrestled the other 3-1 and so on...

That is all true, but what about team scoring, it does not look like they did team scoring right. I know it was at Goddard but I do not believe the team scoring was right. Campus had 4 in the finals and won all four. Goddard had 2 and won both. in the rest of the matches campus won all but 2 and the ones they won were all by pins. going in to the placing rounds Campus was behind Goddard by 18, and then after Campus won so many and Goddard lost a few more, it seems that Campus would have past Goddard. I know that in normal tournaments a wrestler would get points from a bye if they win the next round, but as per the 2nd round it lokked as if that was not the case. The 1st seeds that had byes the 1st round and then come out and pin their opponents in round 2 did not seem to have the additional points. anyone know how the team points were really done?

I think the scoring was jacked up as well. Goddard didn't have enough guys place to put up that many points above Maize or Campus.

There was alot of people who thought that, especially when Goddard only had 2 first and the only other win they had that meant point scoring was at 145 they got 3rd. It was also believed that the extras were counted as points for the teams that had extras. I was looking at Campus round two, and I thought that it was funny that 130, 145, 152, 160 215 had byes and pinned the second round and only had 20 team points. if they would have received the points from the bye after the win I believe they would have had 15 more points and would have won the tournament.

With pool tournaments you do not get advancement points for wins after byes. In most pool tournament scoring formats you only receive points when you defeat someone (byes do not count as wins) and for placements (1-2-etc.). Pool tournaments favor full teams. In this case the scoring was accurate I would guess.

A side note, the priority of the pool tournament format is to get the participants five-matches in the day. Team scoring is secondary.

Points were awarded after each round as follows:
4-Pin 3.5-TF 3-MD 2-Win

Placement points were not awarded for any places until after the finals at each weight class.

Goddard had 9 placers in the top 4
Campus had 6 placers in the top 4
Maize had 9 placers in the top 4, one of them a non point earner as he was an extra.

Coaches were given scoring system at seeding meeting. It may not be perfect but the emphasis of this tournament was matches. Each Coach was given full results after the tournament with round by round results and placement points.

The inference that scoring was not fair or accurate is an insult to the three women and Coach Jilka who worked their tails off all day keeping this tournament running. I have not personally double checked all points and do not intend to do so. Getting ready for regionals is more important. Winning the Goddard Tournament is and was not a priority. At this point in the season we want to be wrestling well and as coaches we thought we wrestled OK not our best.

Thanks to all the workers, coaches, and wrestlers for making this tournament possible.

I was a spectator, and saw that Campus had alot of pins through out the whole tournament not just in the finals. I did see the format and I thought it stated points from 1st through 8, but like you said, regionals is approaching. I nor the others were implying that there was cheating but when I spoke to one of women that was doing team scoring she said that they were doing everything by hand and she thought that the wins after the bye received the extra points. Good luck at Regionals.

I thought Heights was going to be a noshow at this tournament because of ringworm or something. Also were there alot of opens in this tournament? Just curious because of the team scoring.
