103 - Fisher He is just to big for the other 103 pounders.
112 - Wall He is a stud seen him wrestle one time look very good.
119 - Dawson or Bahe Those two guys are to strong and fast for Devoe.
125 - Geske To strong for ortiz and has already beat deeds.
130 - Kriegbaum The MAN no one will touch him.
135 - Bowman is big and strong and looks good Prater is fast it will be between those two.
140 - Terrell looks to be the one to win it but he might have got hurt and plus I was not that impressed with him.
145 - Grater He is just to sound to beat.
152 - Erisman looks like the one to beat this week he looks good but not in very good condtion we will see who comes out on top at state.
160 - Taplin looks like he will win it very strong and domates people when he wants to.
171 - Flory will win it.
189 - Marrs vs. Sheets sheets will stall marrs will go after him, we will just see whos game plan pays off.
215 - Dont see much of any of these guys no clue.
275 - Good weight to watch Bedore will win but it will be a dog fight for 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th.
Them are just some of the thoughts I had on the weights.

I think the Fishervs. Bahe, Ortiz vs. Geske, and Lewis vs. bedore match will be really good, If i'm not mistaken Geske has been beaten a couple of times or so this year, so he isn.t bulletproof, and the Lewis / bedore deal just keeps getting tighter. Fisher, Geske, and Bedore may win their weights but those matches, in my opinion, will be the closest. Prater is very, very, good, I think better than a lot of people think, and I think he will win handily. all the other picks that were made seem reasonable to me. The toughest thing to predict in 4a, I think, will be the team title. Columbus should have the most numbers, but their close dual scores with Fort scott and Chanute indicate it may not be a cake walk for them, either. If Columbus doesn't get 11 or 12 guys through, I pick Goodland. If they do, the numbers will tip things in their favor.

Though I don't think Abilene is real deep, I think it is theirs to lose. I am curious how they will look coming out of the regional. Columbus got hurt when they lost the kid with the shoulder at Basehor. SFT also lost a kid they needed for the year. I think Goodland will get a lot of points out of the two Bahes and Bedore but don't think it will be enough. I think Abilene has about 6 kids who could do exceptional but three or 4 of them have lots of competition

abilene looks good with 6 placers at regionals and sft will be tough even with the loss. i think its between abilene claycenter and colby. i have abilene with 6 placers clay with 7 and colby with 6-7.

colby should send 6 103 tibbles, 112 powell, 130 garcia, 135 finley, 152 sharpe, 171 olsen, and possibly a 7th in kleinsorge at 189 or 215
Abilene should send 5 maybe 6 but four of them could be in the finals at state 119 dawson, 130 kriegbaum, 135 peterson, 125 geske, 160 taplin, and maybe the other dawson at 145 i think
Goodland should send 6 103 baje, 112 normandin, 119 baje, 125 deeds, 189 cowen, and 275 bedore.
I think the team race will be between these three teams with clay, santa fe, and columbus haveing a shot at the team title to.

The state tournament can be won with 5 people. Last year Abilene took 5 to state, alomst the exact same 5 they have this year, only a year better, and your saying they don't have depth? Let me add this up for you
Tanner Dawson 3rd or better = 18 pts. Lucas Geske 2nd or better = 21 pts. Jake Kriegbaum 1st = 24 pts. Josh Peterson 4th or better = 17 pts. Ross Taplin 1st = 24 pts.
Thats 104 points, this would be the worst case scenario for me, these 104 points is still more than the second place team last year. However I thin at least two of those wrestlers should place at least 1 place higher than I have them listed. Also Matt Rein might make it to state and score a few points, as well as Brice Dawson. Its might be a close race, or it might not. It all depends on how the seediing went. So Goodland kids might slip through the cracks and make it to state easy but that won't save them at the state tournament where they will most likely meet up with a Columbus kid.

take a look at Scott city 103 Kough 112 Dreiling 119 Dreiling 125 Conine 135 rosin 140 mcKinney 145 eisenhour 171 huck 189 fox 215 Katt 275 Wyatt Green That is 11 guys that could very well get into the state tourney, and all will likely win matches, I believe That 6 or 7 will place. Columbus did the same thing last year, stopping a Goodland team that was better than abeline at the smaller regional tournament. Abeline does have an advantage with 5 guys that can place, 3 that can win, but it puts a lot of pressure on those guys. Geske, and Dawson, are going to have to make the championship finals in order for Abilene to win the team title.

Here is my picks for that regional 103 Bahe-Good tibbles-colb dooley-con cordts-sft 112 Mundy-SFT Powell-colb Sprague=con Michaelis JW 119 Dawson-Ab Bahe Good Gennette-Con Cauthon-SFT 125 Geske-AB King-Wam Deeds-Good Taylor-Con 130 Krigbaum-AB Garcia-Colb Crotinger-SFT Tollefson-RV 135 Peterson=AB Lund-CC Finley-Colb Terry-RV I know Lund won Beloit but I think Peterson will win at home 140 Pittenger-Wam Gilbert-CC Goodman=RV Lehner=Chap 145 Grater-CC Eden=SFT Fleming-Con Anderes-Chap 152 Wiscombe-SFT Sharpe-Colb Sutton-Kearn Con Allen-CC 160 Taplin-AB Ingenthron-Hayden Hartsook-Mary Janulis-Wam 171 Fitzgerald-Mary Weller-Chap Boyer-CC Olson-Colb (Iknow Boyer could easily be #1) I wouldn't rule out O'Toole from an upset 189 Marrs-CC Sheets-Chap Gertler-Mary Purdon-JW 215 Thoreson-Mary Westby-Chap Weller-CC Brown-Con Again Brown could be much higher 275 Bedore-Good Lavoie-Con pick 3-4-5 Shively-SFT DelToro-RV or Campbell Wam. I think Campbell belongs but don't know where State Qualifiers Abilene-5 all champions Clay Center 7 2-2-2-1 Concordia 8 0-1-5-2 Colby 6 0-4-1-1 SFT 7 2-1-2-2 Chapman 5 0-3-0-2 Marysville 4 2-0-2-0 Goodland 4 2-1-1-0 Wamego 3 1-1-0-1 RV 4 0-0-1-3 Hayden 1 0-1-0-0 JW 2 0-0-0-2 Settle down now, I know there is lots of room for disagreement. I just did it because I was on the fifth day of a 5 day weekend and bored. I was very surprised at what I came up with myself. I was shocked to have picked so many Con guys and also very surprised to find SFT with so many esoecially after losing Connelly and Schmale with injuries. I was also very surprised that I did not have more Goodland wrestlers.

You forgot Lewis from Ulysses at heavyweight. Him and Bedore are the best and Lavoie should get third.

I was picking the regional placings even though it is on the 4A state topic. I think Lewis will take 2nd at state and likely is better than a lot of past champions, unfortunately he has to face Bedore and yes I know he couuuuuld win it all.

Matt Campbell for Wamego has been wrestling 215 for most of the year. Look for him to be a top contender at 215.

If you check the Abilene web site they have him entered at 275 on the roster. I know it is subject to change but I assume the roster was provided by Wamego

Once again I should have posted it on the regional site not the state thread. Those are the regional picks for the Abilene regional.

Mike it really doesn't matter how many guys you take to the state tournament, its how well you place. Now SC could take 11 but im thinking they still won't place any higher than 6th. Why you might ask? Because it does no good qualifying all those kids and having them go 2 and out at State. There was another team a couple years back who brought all 13 wrestlers with them to state and still didn't place in the top 3. Like I said weak regionals isn't going to help out not so great teams.

I THINK YOU UNDERESTIMATE SCOTT CITY-- THEY BEAT GOODLAND AND SANTE FE TRAIL HANDILY IN THE DUAL TOURNEY EARLY, AND THEY BEAT ULYSSES IN THE LEAGUE MEET, THEIR FINISH AT GARDEN CITY BEHIND ULYSSES WAS, I THINK, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY WERE BRACKETTED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THEY MET PONDEROSA IN THE FIRST OR SECOND ROUND IN NEARLY EVERY WEIGHT, WHILE ULYSSES MET PONDEROSA IN SEVERAL WEIGHTS IN THE SEMIS OR FINALS, GIVING THEM QUITE A FEW MORE POINTS. I DON'T THINK ULYSSES WILL BEAT SCOTT CITY AT THE REGIONALS, BUT STATE IS ANYBODY'S BETWEEN GOODLAND, COLUMBUS,ABELINE, AND CLAY. IF 4 ABELINE WRESTLERS OR MORE MAKE THE FINAL, THEN MAYBE THEY WILL WIN, BUT THAT IS WHAT WILL HAVE TO HAPPEN AND THERE ARE JUST SO MANY REALLY GOOD WRESTLERS OUT THERE THAT I BELIEVE IT IS SAFER TO GO WITH 10 OR 11 REALLY GOOD WRESTLERS THAN 5 GREAT ONES. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE WRONG BET LAST YEAR, AND IT MAY BE THE WRONG BET THIS YEAR, BUT OVER THE LONG HAUL NUMBERS WIN OUT MOST OFTEN. NORTON VS. HOXIE IS THE SAME WAY- HOXIE HAS SEVERAL CHAMPIONS OR RUNNERSUP, BUT I THINK NORTON'S NUMBERS WILL WIN IT FOR THEM.

Once again as I've said so many times, dual records have nothing to do with State. Your only going to win State if you have several "good" wrestlers. Not just weaklings who managed to slip by into State like they do in 5 and 6A (sorry I had to say that!). But seriously, there were two teams last year Columbus and Goodland who I beleive both has 8,9, or 10 wrestlers go to state and who won it? Why did Abilene win it? Because of quality wrestlers not quantity. You get maybe 3 or 4 points out of those wrestlers who shouldn't have been there in the first place. And it hasn't helped you out. On the other hand when you've got 5 or 6 guys that are almost guaranteed to be in the top 3 or 4 you can bet they will be racking up the points. Yes state can be won on the backside much like we did in 1999 with no champions but we also placed 9 out of 10 wrestlers in the top 6 and was 1 match away from placing all 10. Several of those were 3rd places which are just as good as second. So in order for Scott City toi contend they are going to have to put several wrestlers through into the medal rounds at state, no with columbus and goodland all having tough backside teams do you really think that they stand a chance? Well we shall so won't we!
