Mahappy Insiders- Does the way Wagner wrestle throw off or screw w/ the way Potter wrestles and thats why he is losing? Or is he just flat out getting beaten. I have seen a few wrestlers in my day that were getting beaten in their wrestle offs just for the fact that they were facing a teammate that threw off the way they wrestled, even though the wrestler that got beat actually wrestled better overall against the other competition.
Ill have to agree w/ LancerM. I do value ur opinion Nigel Isom and u do seem to know ur stuff. But there has been many a time u get hostile or just plain freak out on the forum.

Never and it's highly unlikley we ever will... unless there's a team title for forum champs.

i am the 130 pounder @ Manhattan and I've wrestled Wagner off 3 times. The first time i won 5-2. The second time I lost in double o.t. The third time I won 7-1 and then Wagner cut to 125.
Wagner has a unique style of wrestling, and i think it throws off anybody who has wrestled him. He wrestles very conservative and is VERY opportunistic. But he never has taken me down in a wrestle off, and he really banks on the later stages in the match. I think he would win in most double o.t. situations.
Basically, if I got a takedown in the first period, the match really was over. Potter only needs to get one takedown in the first period. Wagner isn't as much of a shooter and probably woudn't get the points back; normally he stalls on his feet and counts on scoring off the bottom and capitalizing off of his opponent's mistakes.
But I'm not sure who the better wrestler is. I've seen matches that Wagner has won that I am sure that Potter wouldn't have, and last weekend I thought Potter would have done better in the finals match that Wagner had against Mancuso. I don't think it matters who has the spot, but it is Potter's senior year, and Wagner is only a sophomore. And Wagner could probably be wrestling 119 based on what he normally weighs on Mondays before practice.

Nathan are you sure you weren't talking about Mike's style? I think you could of inserted Miller for Wagner in any one of those statements. Other than Mike has never lost to Wagner because they both are so calculated but Mike is more physical. Wagner not real big on physicality but neither is Potter. On serious side though he's very tough to score on because of the pace he sets for the match. But the rest you nailed on the head. Potter just needs to go medieval!

Manhappy Insiders- It sounds like if he is able to drop to 119 then he is an undersized 130 and probably an average 125 at best(i could be wrong).
How bad did Wagner get beat by Mancuso??
Also, what were the scores of all the challenge matches and does Potter even intend on challenging again for the 125 spot?

Rockn, I think it was like a 5-1 in JC with Mancuso, to your other question... don't hold me to this but I think it's been a pair 2 DOT with the match 0-0 or 1-1 and one match by 3 or so. Wagner is solid but Potter could get it done too.

If I remember those wrestle offs right, the first time that they wrestled off Potter won 5-1; that was the first week that I had nobody to wrestle off. The second match Potter also won, but he came back from 5-2 @ the end of the second period to escape and get a takedown to go into O.T., where he got the takedown, and it was very dramatic because Wagner had some opportunities there. The third time, Potter lost 7-1 or 7-2 by just losing on his feet.
Last week, the only points either of them scored were in the second and third periods, with each of them escaping and stalling. In double O.T. Potter had the decision and chose down, and Wagner rode him the whole 30 seconds.
This week is our off week and Wagner hasn't been wrestling because he's sick, so next week they wrestle off best of 3 for the spot. Or it may be the week after that.

Thank you Nigel that is the nicest thing you have ever said about Manhattan. That is quite a complement coming from you. Your thoughts and kindness are greatly appreciated.
