Who do you think would make an a Wichita Metro Area Team.

At 160 lbs. - Frank Jonas - Kapaun Mount Carmel! State Champion as a Freshman, second as a Sophomore, and State Champion as a Junior.
Chenoweth has no state titles!

My money's on Chenoweth, just look at how well he performed at Senior Nationals. 4-2, top 16. Not an all-american, but still pretty darn good. And Chenoweth dominated Wise to where Jonas barely won the match. Plus Jonas is 5A. Chenoweth is 4A.

And Chenoweth dominated Wise to where Jonas barely won the match. Jonas won the necessary matches in clutch situations to advance to the state finals his first three years. Your teammate failed to win the clutch matches. Your teammate entered the state tournament with a 38-0 record his sophomore year and placed sixth; a 28-1 record his junior year and placed fifth; and a 34-0 record his senior and placed second. Chenoweth defeated Wise by a 4-2 score and Jonas defeated Wise 2-1. It would be difficult to say either wrestler dominated Wise. The only wrestler to dominate Wise this year is the same wrestler to dominate Chenoweth, and all his opponents for that matter - Ross Taplin.

Look at who prevented Chenoweth from winning it his sophomore and junior year. Another great wrestler in Danny Grater. Grater won by scores of 7-3 and 8-5, the closest matches of the state tournament for Grater. Chenoweth was very immature and didn't resond well to losing the semi's match his sophomore year and didn't wrestle very well at all. He beat Nate Allison his quarters match who ended up in third. And last year he was wrestling on a bad back all year, and just didn't do as well as he should of, and lost to Wes Fleming on a couple of very questionable stalling calls.
And he's not my teammate, I'm just a face in the crowd.

And it is very possible for a low scoring match to be dominated by one wrestler. Chenoweth rode him out the entire 3rd period coming close to putting him on his back several times. Wise's points came on a takedown close to out of bounds. He never even came close to scoring another point.

Rick, why don't you just say what you really mean, I CHOKED. I know thats what you mean, and so does every one else. Just remember that I have only lost to one 5A wrestler and that was freshmen year.

And didn't Wise beat Jonas last year in the finals.

Actually, I have never lost to a 5A wrestler. I was thinking Blue Valley was a 5A school, but now that I think about it, they're 6A. That was Dan Eakins by the way.

Surely, you guys did not make this a 4A vs. 5A thing did you? When will you get it? 5A #1 Carroll over 4A #1 Clay Center twice. 5A #3 Turner over 4A #2 Abilene & #3 Goodland. 5A #7 Seaman over 4A #4 Andale. 5A #16 Valley Center (yes #16) over 4A #7 Scott City & #8 Colby. These are just a few that I can remember. With a little effort, I could dig up some more. Does this mean that 5A is tougher than 4A...NO. It does however show that 4A can make no claims about being tougher than 5A.

Individually though, 4A is tougher in most of the classes. Maybe not as a team, but as an entire class, I think 4A is tougher. A little ole choker such as myself has never lost to a 5A wrestler, and I've wrestled several of 5A's state placers. How many state qualifiers in 5A had losing records.

103 lbs. Garrett Gage, Mulvane vs. Paulie Hansen, KC Turner First period fall by Hansen! 4A 0, 5A 6
112 lbs. Brett Bahe, Goodland vs. Trison Graham, Ark City Very close match, however Bahe's defense may be better than Graham's offense! Bahe by decision. 4A 3, 5A 6
119 lbs. Isaac Wall, Andover vs. Tristen Deshazer, Wichita West Deshazer by decision! 4A 3 - 5A 9
125 lbs. Tanner Dawson, Abilene vs. Conner Crumbliss, Ark City Crumbliss by decision! 4A 3 - 5A 12
130 lbs. Aaron Ellison, Columbus vs. Josh Baldridge, Campus Baldridge wins by fall, first or second period! 4A 3 - 5A 18
135 lbs. Scott Elliott, Augusta vs. Geoffrey Tucker, Wichita West Toss up - I will go with the more experienced senior Tucker to win by one or two! 4A 3 - 5A 21
140 lbs. Cole Garcia, Colby vs. Kyle Grape, Lansing Garcia by decision! 4A 6 - 5A 21
145 lbs. Danny Grater, Clay Center vs, Joseph Cornejo, Campus Grater by decision in O.T.! 4A 9 - 5A 21
152 lbs. Nick Zahm, Columbus vs. David Anderson, Campus Anderson by decision! 4A 9 - 5A 24
160 lbs. Ross Taplin, Abilene vs. Frank Jonas, Kapaun Taplin by decision in a close match. Jonas has excellant defense and most assuredly would avoid the first period fall. As the match progresses, Jonas gains confidence due to his strength, however he is not able to secure the necessary takedown for the upset! 4A 12 - 5A 24
171 lbs. Justin Wiscombe, Santa Fe Trail vs. Blake Malloy, Shawnee Heights Another overtime match with Wiscombe winning by decision! 4A 15 - 5A 24
189 lbs. Jesse Strawn, Holton vs. Sean Pietrzyk, Salina South Very close match, perhaps overtime with Pietrzyk winning by decision! 4A 15 - 5A 27
215 lbs. Lucas Fox, Scott City vs. Ryan Sponsel, Bishop Carroll Fox by decision! 4A 18 - 5A 27
275 lbs. Guy Miller, Scott City vs. Caleb Payne, Paola Payne wins a close decision! 4A 18 - 5A 30
Individually, 5A is very likely tougher than 4A.
Individually, 6A is likely tougher than 4A.
Without question, 4A has more depth of quality wrestlers in each weight classification than 6A and 5A, and perhaps 3-2-1A.
