I heard Abilene didn't come because of bad weather. Basehor and Ellsworth also did not make the long trek to Clay Center.... Western Kansas was there.

There was plenty of sickness going around which also affected the numbers at Clay Center. Salina South and Norton were both open at several weights because of illness.

don't know where zouzas was. the best matches were at 189 where they had a round robbin'. butler defeated both marrs and pPietrzyk (spelling) in overtime and marrs defeated Pietrzyk by a score of like 6-3. There were many weight brackets with round robbin' and the tournament was done by around 4. just some individual placers that i can think of off the top of my head. fisher won 103, madden 112,mancuso 125, annon 130, jordan 140, grater 145, stevens 152, lacer 171, buter 189. I don't know if the reason why abilene didn't come was because of bad weather or not, but 3 schools had to go through abilene to make it to clay center, both salina schools and andale. So if those schools made it, I don't know why abilene couldn't have came. I think I even heard that they sent their middle school wrestlers to wamego on saturday too. hopefully there's more to this than what i'm looking into.

its a real letdown that abiline wussed out i know that more than a few people were looking forward to an Annon vs Kreighbaum matchup that would have been worth the price of admission itself. why was abiline a no-show?

It snowed. Most likely a decision made by school administration but Clay Center and Abilene is a relatively short drive. I do know their JV was to attend a tournament and did not due to the weather.

clay to abilene is only like 45 minutes to an hour at most...not bad at all, but you can't go against your administration...I'm sure they wanted to compete but were told not to.

Chewie I can assure you that Mr Rowley and Mr Berry who are the athletic director and Superintendent of Abilene high school, made the decision to not let the bus driver make the trip. I drove to emporia at 6:00 in the morning and saw 5 cars off the road so the risk to a school bus was not acceptable to them. It was in no way the wrestlers decision as to whether they could go or not. So I don't ever want to hear anyone say Abilene wussed out again, they are the defending State champions and should be respected as such. Especially by you Chewie since you're from Clay Center. They will get their chance at the Beloit tournament, Regionals and the duals. I still can't believe someone would make such an idiot comment like that.

Doesn't Zousas miss this tourny every year for some some Grater reason than we all know?

Zouzas was sick and he wouldn't have even been in the same bracket. FYI. That is ridiculous Cardfan.

To cardfan:
Pretty strong statement! Wrestlers in the class of Zouzas and Grater do not duck competition, they thrive on it.

If you look at any of my previous posts you will see that I think Zousas and Grater are two of the best wrestlers Kansas has to offer.
I was just wondering if Zousas has ever attended the clay center tourny. If I recall he missed it last year also.

One correction Jordan-Beloit, was first at 135. Wright-Beloit first at 140. That is where they intend on finishing the season. Zouzas has the flue...
