Red, please don't make posts of these nature. You're making me drool all over my keyboard, which can't be good for my computer.

A little (fat) bird told me Manhattan may be looking to get out of Ottawa, which is always the last tournament before Christmas break. What are these other schools doing that week?

And Garker, CO--where is Max Smith now?

Indeedy do, you did. I would have been more cordial, but you know...God was dumping a foot of snow in our faces at the time.

If memory serves, you acted as if you didn't believe me when I told you K-State was going to shock the world in the Big XII Championship...score one for Prant.

Ponderosa had a great showing this weekend at the A-West tournament. They are looking very tough.

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/prep_wrestling/article/0,1299,DRMN_105_2585880,00.html

http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~92~1899126,00.html

Any predictions for the upcoming Hoxie/Ponderosa dual?

I think the key matches will be 119, 125, 130, and 152. Hoxie and Ponderosa both appear to be very tough at these weights.

Hoxie can win the dual if they shutout Ponderosa from 119-152 and win these weights by pin. Ponderosa should win the rest of the weights, and I think they will probably win a few in the 119-152 range as well.

My uninformed and biased predictions:
103: Ponderosa by dec. 3-0
112: Ponderosa by pin 9-0
119: Hoxie by dec 12-3
125: Hoxie by dec 12-6
130: Ponderosa by maj dec 16-6
135: Ponderosa by dec 19-6
140: Hoxie by pin 19-12
145: Hoxie by pin 19-18
152: Ponderosa by dec 22-18
160: Ponderosa by pin 28-18
171: Ponderosa by maj dec 32-18
189: Ponderosa by pin 38-18
215: Ponderosa by pin 44-18
Hwt: Ponderosa by pin 50-18

The only Ponderosa wins I'm not 100% on are at 135 and 152. I think Ponderosa's 135 will win only because the Hoxie kid only beat the Chapparal kid 6-3.

152's may be a tossup and will definetely be a 6 minute scramble. Both guys will be state champs at the end of the season, Ponderosa's guy tore up the defending Colorado 5A state champ last weekend and he's only a freshman. Next to 160, 152 is probably the stongest middle to upper weight for Ponderosa (112 and 130 round out the best weights on the team).

119, 125, and 140 won't be cakewalks for Hoxie either, but I'm sure they'll win at several weights and those seemed the most likely. At 145 the Hoxie guy is apparently really tough and Ponderosa's guy is pretty green.

What does everyone else think?

KFNF Radio out of Oberlin will be covering the dual between Ponderosa and Hoxie, 101.1 FM on the radio dial. They should also be streaming on the net at sports.kfnk101.com. Do not put in the www or the http on the search. Be sure to listen.

Parker, co: I think you are selling some of the Hoxie guys a bit short, I think 130 and 135 will be a split or both Hoxie, I think 152 is sure no cinch for Ponderosa, and your 160 pounder better have everything together because Campbell is a very good wrestler. I absolutely do not think that there is going to be a 30 point bloodbath. a lot is going to depend on whether or not the Hoxie guys are all 100% physically--- some would see that as a cop-out statement but keep in mind that Hoxie doesn't have the luxury of being more than one deep in most weights, and will be open in some. I think you are underestimating you opponent somewhat. Also, has your 189 pounder wrestled Hendricks, the freshman man-child from Burlington? You probably are in a different class, but he is the best freshman big guy I have seen in a long time. Good luck to all involved!

Hey, I said I was biased and uninformed! We'll see though.

Ponderosa is not underestimating Hoxie, I guarantee you that, but maybe I am!

By the way, Ponderosa's dual scores this season:

63-11
76-0
69-6
69-6
69-6
80-0

This is max smith, I was told by a kid from Kansas on my team that someone from Parker was relaying some wrong information about myself. so MR. Parker CO get your facts right! thats bull. I am currently enrolled in Adams State and wrestling on a scholorship. Now that we have that cleard up I am most upset about your post about "mary jane", if your implying that i smoke pot your freaking crazy! You oviously do not know me because any one who does knows I am 100% against that crap, not to mention the fact that is nearly imposible to do while wrestling on the #7 nationaly ranked college team. I would be glad if you came out from the dark and told me your name. E-mail me at smithma@adams.edu if you would like to clear up any of this misconseption of me. untell then keep your piehole shut!

Well Mr. Smith, I think it's very obvious Prant is the superiour wrestler between you two. You should probably just go get high and color or something.

I want to take this opportunity to apologize to Max Smith. He is a great kid and a great wrestler and I didn't mean to spread false information about him.

I received some innacurate information about how he was doing in college from what I thought was a reliable source. With the benefit of hindsight, though, it was definetely a bad idea to repeat it regardless of it's accuracy.

Max, I'm sincerely sorry.

well i didnt get the priveledge of seeing the dual due to watching jr high wrestling that evening in colby, but i understand it was quite a spankin, 54-11? i know hoxie had one or two open weights, and they were with out little shippers, but still winning only 3 of 13 weights?, it wouldnt have had much of a difference even if hoxie's 145 pounder had won.

burlingtons 189, hendricks, is a very decent freshman, gabe smull wrestled him 4x in little kids over the last 3 years, winning all of them and pinning him twice. he has grown into quite the specimen however over the last year. unless gabe grows a bunch in the next year it is doubtful they'll ever meet again.

as a side track the NWKL was an extremely tough tourney this last weekend, with hoxie comming in second, with goodland winning it. st.francis 3rd, colby 4th, oberlin okaley atwood rounding it out, no particular team dominated, as i thought the scores were fairly close.
alot of suprises, upsets, and great wrestling. some ranked wreslters didnt even place. it was tough.
in another post it was well said, 7 returning state champs, 30 ranked wrestlers. 20 returning NWKL champs, and 7 of the 8 teams ranked in the top ten, in thier respective classifications...

the season is winding down, and things are becomming interesting....
