J.J. Finney of Clearwater. The best wrestler to ever go through there. Lost one match his junior year because he slammed the kid. One of the most aggresive wrestlers I've ever seen. Had a chance to go D1 but had responsabilities at home to take care of.
To be something that you have never been, you must be willing to do something that you have never done.

I agree Justin Ware was one heck of a wrestler. I wrestled him once in the semi-finals at State. What happened to him after highschool? I heard he went to Nebraska then lost track of him.

went to nebraska was 27-3 or something like that as a redshirt frosh. he had 2 losses to alan fried by a combined 5 points. he then went to nationals when they were at UNC when i was wrestling there. I hung out with him and the rest of the nebraska team. I distinctly remember tolly thompson and the rest of the team raving about how good he was. Unfortunately he lost his 1st 2 matches, After that he left school, had a baby and got on with his life. Just think how well temoer did and justin was head and shoulders above him in high school. he definitely coulda been quite an accomplished college wrestler.
Eddie Borror was another who coulda been

Ware, was an outstanding wrestler who got a little sidetracked when the dicussion of grades and education came up. Bad deal, he had a great opportunity to be a national champ!

Hmmm,
I'm suprised to see Bo Maynes wasn't even considered by the original poster. Never lost a match in high school (though Ware's only losses were to a guy out of OK) and correct me if I'm wrong, never taken down in high school. Or was that his junior and senior year?
At any rate, Also wrestled in college at OU. One match away from AA status his senior year.
Though I'm confused by the "could have been" line of questioning. Heck, even I "could have been" the best wrestler in Kansas. If it weren't for a shoulder that just didn't want to stay in it's socket, I "could have" done rather well.
Notable losses:
Some guy named George Milton (3X state champ, AA @ Fargo).
Quinton Hamontree (Pretty good wrestler in HS, wrestled @ Nebraska)
Alan Fried (put him on his back for a 2 count - then he commenced to kicking the crap out of me).
Oh who am I kidding, I sucked.

As for pure talent Borror was probably the best I ever got to see. He just couldn't keep it together and stay on the team for the whole year.
