I read on this forum that the HWT from Abilene (Palmer) moved into the district and wrestled the last couple weeks of the season. He finished 5th I think at state, scored them some points, and I heard by word of mouth that he is leaving Abilene. I just heard it and was wanting to know the whole scoop from someone. If it is true, and that is what I am trying to piece together, I am a little upset that it happened that way, moving in, placing, and then leaving. Someone give me some details on it.

You are upset why? Because you think that Coach Stout "recruited" this kid to come in and wrestle for Abilene, score some points, and then move out? Perhaps you'd like to give some details about your life? Starting out with your real name, then we can move on to the reasons why it is any of your business what this kid decides to do with his life, notwithstanding the fact that everything that has happened so far was sanctioned by KSHSAA the ONLY people who's opinion matters in such cases. And finally what exactly it is that you are hoping to accomplish here by your questioning? Well I'll tell you this, his father wrestled for Abilene (A state champion, and a national college champion), his Uncle wrestled for Abilene ( 2X state placer ), his brother (who was tragically killed last year by a drunk driver) wrestled for Abilene ( State placer and qualifier) So MAYBE he just wanted to wrestle for Abilene for heritage sake. Now do you really honestly want to persue this?

I didn't start out to PURSUE this issue, just find out the specifics firsthand, but you make it real easy to do so with some of your explanations. I never mentioned anything about "recruiting" anyone, but you did! I never said anything about it being illegal to move in and participate, as I understand the rule! What you are telling me is that he moved in to wrestle for Abilene for "heritage sake". Wouldn't that be nice for programs all over the state to have kids come up for their athletic season of choice for "heritage sake"? You are quick to judge anyone that is questioning your school. I would bet, although you won't admit it, that if this type of thing happened down the road at Clay Center or Goodland or any school that you are not affiliated with, you would probably be wondering what was going also. What is it I want to accomplish by my questioning? Simply to do as I already stated: Piece it together and get some details on it. That's what this forum is for, to get information and communicate about things going on all over the state.

Thats not what I said, I said "maybe" he did, I do not personally know why he has done what he has done, and I don't really care, its his business not ours. I'm fairly sure most kids wouldn't want to sit out more than half a season just to wrestle at a different school. By the way I'm not affiliated with the Abilene School district in any way, other than I went to school there 5 years ago. As far as something like this happening at Clay or Goodland i wouldn't give a crap, if everything was legitimate then who am I to question the motives behind it. I agree with G Spot, just let it go, if it concerns you that much perhaps you should speak with KSHSAA, or the boys parents, a public discussion about it is not needed.

Nigel, I think G Spot told you to let it go. You did get really defensive about the situation and I'm guessing that if you didn't care you wouldn't have gotten so defensive.

G Spot, I graduated 5 years ago but you were pretty close I guess. ThreePoint I said I didn't care as to the reason why Cody moved in to Abilene or why he may be moving out, what I do care about is people sniffing around for something that isn't there, call it conspiracy theory if you want, you won't find anything. Why bring it up?

Guys, give Nigel a break. I think that the new topic here is picking on Nigel. He's defending his alma matter and what does it matter to everyone else about what Abilene's heavyweight did. Nigel's right, if there was a problem with it, then the KSHSAA wouldn't have allowed him to wrestle.

The KSHSAA did do something about Palmer, they didn't let him wrestle against Clay Center if everyone recalls. He arrived within a week or two of Nonomaker getting hurt and was challenged about his eligibility by the Clay Center staff. If he decides to move back to wherever to pursue football or wrestling or something else then let him.

His dad was and still is a tough SOB, but I thought he was a 3 time national runner-up. Once a Labette and twice at Adams State.

He won it once at Adams State is what I was told. I would be able to tell you for certain if some jerk didn't knock my media guide from DII under the bleachers and steal my copy.

In 1982 there was a Shane Palmer who was a NAIA National Champion at 167 lbs. for Adams State College. Adams State National Champ Honor Roll! Palmer was also a NAIA All American the following year (1983) for Adams State College. Adams State College All-Americans!

I know it says he won it at 167, but man he's bulked up. If you all have ever seen him in person that man is like a bodyguard and is very tall.

Conspiracy theory....hmmm......yes that's just what I was trying to do. Dang, Nigel you caught me. It was simple question, sure didn't mean to offend anyone. I guess curiousity killed the cat on this occasion.
