WHERE HAS THE WORLD GONE IN WRESTLING? I SEE THIS COAH ACTING LIKE HE IS ONE OF THE GUYS WHEN HE IS AT TOURNAMENTS AND ALSO WHAT KIND OF SCHOOL DOES HE COACH WITH SEAMAN ON THEIR SHIRTS , COME ON THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE MOST EMBARASSING THINGS TO SEE AS A PARENT WITH A COACH TO ACT THE WAY HE DOES. BELEIVE ME I KNOW I'VE SEEN THE MAN IN ACTION AND HE YELLS AT KIDS FOR SOMETHINGTHAT WORKS WHEN HE DIDNT YELL IT. THATS BREAKING THE KIDS DOWN AND THEN EXPECTING THEM TO WRESTLE WELL. COME ON WE HAVE TO GET RID OF HIM

Man --I thought we got rid of all the idiots on this forum. Your post doesn't deserve a response. However, since you obviously wrote the post after snorting your dirty jockstrap for too long I thought I would remind you that you can always delete a post that you made. Why don't you do that -- or at least be brave enough to add your name.

M M not sure what tournament you have seen Coach Gibson at but for myself being a parent of two current wrestlers of Coach Gibson I have seen nothing that would make me not want him around my boys. Sure there are times that he may get out of line but what good coach doesn't? I believe both of my boys have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from him. You know I have gone to tournaments where I have seen fathers who are coaching their own son and have acted worse than anything I have seen Coach Gibson do. Please give us some specific examples so we can see that you know what your talking about and so we can respond. Coach Gibby thanks for all your hard work and dedication and lets go out this year showing them all.

Hello wrestlers,

I've been getting on this sight all summer and I don't remember having all this negative talk going on. When are some of you people going to grow up and quit slamming people, we are not the W.W.E. we are
USAWKs and that should carry some respect for all those who participate. I've been around coach Gibson
and i have not seen anything that seemed to be unruling or distastful. If you don't know who I am
the name is coach Ed and I do serve on the rules commitee and it seems to me that the bad behavior on the talk page is starting again. I hoped that we could have an uneventful season with lots of action and dreams fulfilled. So lets nip in the bud this type of talk before it gets out of hand. Coach Gibson I support you because I've seen how you worked with my kid and im picky.

Actually, when this topic was first started, I thought it was in jest, due to the comment about "Seamen on their shirts." Is it really possible that m_m doesn't know that Jeremy Gibson is a coach for Topeka Seaman High School? What else should he have on his shirt?

After the second post by m_m, however, it appears that possibly the post was sincere. Therefore, I'll make two points. First, attacking anyone under the shadow of anyonymity is an act of utter cowardace. I will remind everyone of part of the rules they agreed to when they registered on this forum:
Quote:
Also, verbal attacks will not be tolerated. Our sport has a difficult enough time promoting ourselves to the general public without tearing each other down. If you have constructive criticisms to make, phrase them as you would to a friend (that you would like to remain a friend).
Second, I want to add my personal endorsement of Jeremy Gibson to the others who have posted. If there are times that he's gotten a little overly excited, I challenge you to find anyone who loves our sport who hasn't done the same. And I've seen the affection and loyalty his wrestlers show for him - to me, that speaks volumes.

So I'm sitting here, minding my own business and realizing I haven't done anything bad since, oh, last week and decided to see what was up.

Look Ma, I got a folder devoted to me!

Yell at the 189 lber during a conso semi finals match against your son? And? Did I yell at your son? What's the problem? As it's too much for me to get out of my chair and grab the bracket from my files, I'll defend myself on two points.

One, the stack issue, this was is a bad habit the wrestler has. He doesn't want to break anyone down and wrestle the basics. Basics win matches against quality opponents. This is something we preach at SHS and the athletes, including this one, understand it. When a wrestler beats a guy so it can be pretty and embarass the other wrestler, I get irate. Sorry for defending your son to my 189 lber. I'll do better to belittle him the next time. No need to thank me.

Second, the wrestler in question is one in particular that I have work with during the summer to continue his wreslting achievements as well as the Miller boys and others around the Topeka area. With this in mind, do you really think a parent would allow, a psychopath coach their kid? They respect the decisions I make. I get excited. Things I haven't done include: openly berate an opponent, openly belittle my wrestlers (you suck, etc.). That does not mean I don't get excited, but it does mean that I am constructive as I am "yelling" at my wrestler.

Thanks to all those that supported me in the responses.
