Think about this when voting on this pole. I might be a bit biased to Tanner since i know him fairly well. But who can match these accomplishments: Undefeated HS State Champ, Fila-Cadet Greco-Roman Champ, Fila-Cadet Freestyle Runner-up, Junior National Greco-Roman Champion, Junior National Freestyle 3rd place. This is quite a list of credentials. Look at the guys who have previously won Juniors from Kansas, Zach Roberson- now starts for Iowa State and is an AA already. Just thought i'd put in my 2 cents

in all fairness, i think we should only consider HS accomplishments, due to the fact that not every wrestler gets the opportunity, for one reason or another, to wrestle all summer long. Who knows how well the wrestlers that didn't wrestle at all the junior and national events would have faired, if they did attend these tournaments. so to be make the comparsion more equal only HS results should be used, cause everyone of these wreslers get the chance to wrestle there. just my thoughts

just pretend that all these wrestlers are in the same weight class. if they were put in a round robin, who would win out?

NO DISRSPECT, BUT MOST GENARLLY YOU FIND STATE CHAMPIONS WHO ARE FRESH, OR SOPH, IN THE LOWER WIEGHTS, IE 103 112 AND EVEN 119 A LITTLE, WHY BECAUSE NOT VERY OFTEN DO YOU FIND GREAT UPPERCLASSMEN IN THESE WIEGHTS, NOT VERY OFTEN. AND HOW OFTEN IN THE MIDDLE TO UPPER WIEGHTS DO YOU FIND GREAT WRESTLERS, WITH VERY FEW EXCEPTIONS EVERY WIEGHT. FOR SOMEONE TO WIN 103 0R 112 AS A FRESHMAN TO ME, JUST MY OP., ISN'T AS GREAT AS A FRESH OR SOPH WINNING FOR SAY 135 OR 140, I DON'T KNOW I COULD BE WRONG JUST MY OP.

You sound a little bitter oldtimer, for a kid to win a state championship in highschool at any wieght is major accomplishment.

Old fan, i think there is little doubt your observation is correct. 103 state is usually a freshmen-sophmore tournament with a few exceptions.

I don't think you are going to find ANY freshmen state champions ever in any of those weights.

Okay, so there's not alot of big athletic freshmen. From what I'm getting out of this poll the better wrestler's are in the lower wieghts anyway.

I think it is absolutely impossible to determine. Kreibaum, Strait, Venegas, Jones are all very tough. If Johnson, Pyle, and Drennan all were to wind up in the same weight, winning that bracket would definitely be the biggest accomplishment. You won't find me to trying to be so subjective as to pick any one person as the best in all classes, all weights. I try to be very informed about all kansas wrestling, but to pick one #1, NO WAY. I find most people pick someone they are familiar with and partial to. Kind of really a popularity contest.

I do not uderstand how you didn't even put Josh Baldrage's name on the list of people for the poll. When he beat Knox in the finals, and Knox beat him at state. Don't get me wrong Cody did beat him this last year. In my OP Josh is one of the best wrestlers in the state.

right on raiderwrestler. Stu is going to tear some sh*t up. He is bigger than ever and i see him do nothing but bust his butt in practice. He will take state and steamroll anyone one the way to it.
With the power of Ra!
