I know that there are probably a lot of die hard Bishop Carroll fans that would disagree with me, but there are also a lot of wrestling fans that would agree that Josh Maze as a senior in High School was not at the same level as Justin Dyer is. I think that it would have been a decent match, but I think Dyer would have had the upper hand. Now that Josh has had a couple years of college, I think that Josh may be the better wrestler. Again that is after two years of college experience though.

Joe Nelson did not have the skills that either Josh or Justin had. His success came from his strength and quickness. He was impossible to ride (the most unbelievable stand up I've ever seen) and his leg strength made him very difficult to take down. I think that Dyer would have beat him, but Josh lost to him a couple of times his junior and senior years.

I have wrestled Joe Nelson and Josh Maze both. And I believe that Justin Dyer couldn't hold a candle to either on of them. They both have incredible speed and Nelson has more strength than any 189 pounder I ever wrestled during high school. So if I was going to put my money on someone it would have to be on Joe or Josh, not Justin.

Anyone who has seen Justin Dyer in the last three years has to recognize that he is a very special wrestler. I think that will bear out as you see what he does at Oklahoma. He is a far better athlete for one thing than any of the kids mentioned in this topic and he has such an advanced skill level now that it is hard to concieve of anyone not seeing what he is. Sometimes kids are special and he is very very special. Maze was a good wrestler as was Nelson and all of the kids listed here but Dyer is enourmously talented and I believe he will do remarkably well at the next level. I don't really believe that the other kids have that kind of special athletic ability. No slight to any of them, but Dyer is gifted and I think he will show that at Oklahoma. Watch the East West match and see what he does in that. Did any of you see what he did to the Missouri State Champion at the Kansas Missouri match? It was pretty ugly.

Its pretty obvious that since Crowley didn't wrestle Dyer, there is no way that he is as good as Maze or Nelson who whooped him. Everybody knows that he is the measuring stick of 189, beat him and you are the best hands down, lose to him and you are terrible, never wrestle him and you were just too scared!

Dyer and Mortimer are going to wrestle in the east west match. Care to put a little wager on it. As someone here said the best measuring stick is head to head. You are about to get your wish. I will take Dyer and you can have whoever you want in whatever weight class you want. I think he is the best wrestler in the state of kansas right now. He has wins this year over the Oklahoma State champ and two state champs from Missouri. Want to bet against him getting a win over a fourth?

I think Dyer beats Mortimer easily...Mortimer's best match was in the finals and quite frankly wrestled the best match he ever wrestled, however I do not think he can repeat that,if he does,my hats off to him. However I predict Dyer to win this one.And just for the record I would like to see Mortimer win I just don't think he will.

I think someone lost a bet here on the Dyer/Mortimer match. I think that surely opened some eyes on some previously non-sighted persons concerning Dyer. He ain't bad!!
