Chaz,

Congratulations on being a 3-time state medalist. I know this one wasn't the one you worked for but your Mom and I couldn't be prouder of the effort you gave, how you handled the loss, and the way you kept your head to get the bronze in a tough weight class. Remember, it's not about the goal, it's about the way you prepared to reach it. Dad/Coach

Chaz, Congratulations from my family, as well. We have known each other for years and your never-say-die attitude was always a source of inspiration. Your parents are very proud of you, as we are. Our very best wishes for continued success in whatever lies ahead for you. I also think you were the best 145lber in the Metro Area.

That, and you're the nicest guy that I've never wrestled.

Last year, at BVNW, I lost to Brendan Halpin. Because I don't really pay too much attention to the people I lose to, I met up with who I thought was Brendan Halpin before his finals match against Chaz Hill. Because I'd rather lose to the winner of the tournament, I said, "Kick Chaz's Hill's %#@." Turns out I was talking to Chas Hill. I was extremely embarassed. I think if that would have been anyone else, the finals match might have started a little early.

chazmania...that's a bummer about state man, i know how bad you wanted that...but look at what you've accomplished in your amazing career.

everyone in that wrestling room looks up to you and you have definitely set a standard for the rest of us to live up to.

congrats on an amazing career and thank you for bringing everything you have to our team.

take it easy man.

Hey Coach Hill, is Chaz wrestling anywhere in college, or at least looking to?

LancerM,

Someone asked me last night if Chaz really wasn't wrestling in college because he didn't make the Classic so I guess my joke above was taken seriously by at least one person. The truth is, even though I tried to encourage him to go to my alma-mater(FHSU) and wrestle, Chaz plans to attend K-State next year. I can't really blame him I guess. He's been hanging around the mat since about age 6 and except for a year of basketball, competing since around 7 or 8. The last three of those years have pretty much meant year-around diet and weight control because of his diabetes, so I think he's just ready to move on. Hope everything is going well for you. Take care and thanks for asking. rhill

Randy, Tell Chaz I wish all the luck at K-State. Maybe he'll run into my nephew Chad!

Rudy--Okay, you can take the fish hook out of my mouth, as well. Just didn't want to ask you about it last night. Noticed he is on the Senior Classic roster, so maybe he can reconsider...

Wanted to tell you how special you and Chaz have been to Louie and my family. Both of you always have a kind word and best wishes. Tell Chaz good luck at the classic and all of his future choices in life. That is one young man we don't ever worry about...job well done!

Ha ha ha, luckily for me I did catch your sarcasm.

And that's too bad that he won't be wrestling but I'm sure he's going to enjoy himself at K-State. It's a bit rough at first but I'm sure he'll adjust to life without wrestling well.

Also, congratulations to Chaz on making the all-academic team. That's really great.

Usawks1, Bracket-man, & LancerM,

Thanks. I'll pass your kind words on to Chaz. We've enjoyed your friendship as well. It's hard to believe the last four years have gone by so fast. I'm sure Chaz will enjoy K-State, he has a lot of friends there. And since I grew up in Wamego, I've got lots of friends and family around there to keep him in line in case he starts to enjoy it too much. And if worse comes to worse, I'm friends with a bail bondsman in Manhattan.(Let's hope we won't need him) Chaz has always been pretty responsible and I don't expect that to change. (Are you hearing me Chaz?) I'll tell him to keep an eye out for Chad though, wrestlers need to stick together. After talking to Louie last night, it sounds like he's got his near future lined out. He's a good kid and he's always so respectful. I'm sure he'll do well at whatever he does. I guess we just sit back now, relax a little, and wait for some grandkids to hit the mats. Yeah, like I'm going to do that! Randy, are you going to LV again this year? I may not this year but I'm not quite ready to hang up the shoes yet. Can't seem to get it out of my system. I don't know why though, as long as it takes to stop hurting after I'm done. See ya all around. rh
