Was the kid who won 4a state last year from Scott City a junior? I have not seen him ranked just wondering what happened to him.
I heard that the Garden City tournament this weekend includes Colorado teams (Cannon City) and I think the Cody Palmer 4th in 4a heavy last year (Abilene) wrestles for that Co team.

If you are talking of the heavyweight, Miller, he had shoulder surgery resulting from a football injury and will not wrestle this season. The toughest Colorado team coming in will be Parker Ponderosa.

I think that it's probably the time of year that most coaches are simply being cautious with injuries. Derek defaulted to Eck. AJ was hurt in the semi's, continued, then forfeited in the finals.

Congratulations to all the wrestlers who hung in at Garden City. Special holla' out to the Goddard team. They, like many, didn't take a full contingent to GC, 3 opens and one JV kid, and still made a respectable showing, coming in second to the Colorado team.
At this time of year, kids start to get weary, I hope that everyone can get some rest and recupe time before Regionals. You gotta peak at the right moment. And it is as much mental as anything.
But most importantly, I think it is important for each wrestler to see how important they are to the overall team. I see it all the time, and sometimes it is perpetuated on this forum, with all the talk of the "studs" of a team, well, you don't take a State title with just a handfull of 1st's. Many, if not most, state titles are won or lost on the backside. True Grit gentleman, that's the name of the game from now on!
So, take some mental health time, get your rest and come out fighting!
