I was listning to it on Goodland radio 730 AM until I lost the signal. Deeds and Bahe of Godland, praters of Pratt, and Cole Garcia of Colby (upset Rees McKinnety of Scott City) made the Quarters, sorry can't tell you any more, set your radio to 730 if you are west of K14 and you can hear it as it happens tommorrow morning.

According to the lady at KLOE radio, The brackets were redone this morning because there were so many no-shows due to sickness, etc-- Andale only brought 4 wrestlers as they have several so sick they are in hospital. anyway, as of Friday night with the semifinals set, the team scores are: Goodland 62 1/2 Colby 61 1/2 concordia 58 clay center 57 Scott City 52 abeline 48 Pratt 37 Ulysses 36

If you look at the matchups, It makes you wonder why Concordia isn't way ahead? I think after next round there is a good possibility of 6 Con kids in the finals, and that would about seal it up.

Colby is sending 9 wrestlers to the state tournament. If they had mainus they would already have it wrapped up.

Awesome match with some incredible scrambles initiated by both Sharpe and Taplin. The styles of these two wrestlers made for an all or nothing type mentality.
First period was back and forth w/ attempts by each wrestler. Sharpe dropped on top with a takedown at the close of the 1st period w/ some discussion from the Abilene coaches and officials at to whether it was a takedown. Referees gave Sharpe the takedown - it was a judgement call as the takedown was signaled just as the towel boy tapped the lead referee.
Sharpe rode him most of the second period before giving up an escape late in the period.
Sharpe w/ an escape and takedown on a Taplin slip thrown in the third.
Taplin came hard and wrestled tough. Takedown at the end of the first gave Sharpe an advantage. A lot of near scores on takedown scrambles - and, had it been freestyle, Taplin would have scored big points on a couple of stacks - but no control was maintained for a takedown in folkstyle. Sharpe nearly caught Taplin on his back from the top position on as least one occasion.
Sharpe maintained composure, stuck to Taplin like glue and wore him down as the match went a long. Sharpe really wrestled smart and earned the regional championship in this one after this battle. Both are so talented, and Chase Frank of Scott City is right there too.
Great match between two outstanding wrestlers. Hope they can duplicate the effort and excitement next week, as this one was a very entertaining match.
