Theres going to be some touugh matches there. Any predictions who will come out on top? I think Halstead will send Adkins, Barger, Foster, Toler and Jones. They're pretty stout, especially Foster and Barger. Barger knocked off a 27-0 kid the other day. Foster was ranked #5 in 5A before transfering. Barger and Foster will wrestle under Sedgwick at Regionals(Halstead/Sedgwick combine). Also I look to see Garden Plain send atleast 4 people to state. How do you all think it will turn out?

The way it looks by my accountant – margin of error plus/minus 4 percent
Regional Breakdown/individuals ranked in top6/ ranked 1st:

Lakin Regional
Top 6=25 of that 5 ranked 1st

Phillipsburg Regional
Top 6=28 of that 3 ranked 1st

Cottonwood Falls
Top 6=10 of that 1 ranked 1st

St. George Regional
Top 6=21, of that 5 ranked 1st

Looks like some of your kids will go to Hays,
but they may have stayed home had they wresteled at Lakin, or Phillipsburg, or St. George.
Whatever – You will have to face Northwest
Kansas & St George sometime

To Dalefish
Thats why we beak the state up into FOUR regionals and I never saw or heard in the other posts that the kids they were talking about were state champions just kids that they thought would qualify. And there have been some years that this regional was tougher than the other regionals, and im sure those kids kick their parents every day for not living some where else and are very sadthey dont live in the GREAT northwest, seeing how the kids pick where they live, right. But again they break it up so that kids from some where else have a shot at going to state and seeing their dreams through to the end. ie: Hoosiers

Obviously the schools at Cottonwood Falls regional historically have not done well at state. It does not diminish their regional or those kids. In some ways they have to work harder just to get their programs to the point that they can hope to compete at the next level. Good luck

Garden Plain looks to qualify more than 4. Their program is up and coming. I look for these to qualify;
Zoglman 112
Leis 119
Eaton 145
Bugner 152
Stuhlsatz 171
Puetz 215
Jennings 275
Scheer at 160 also has an outside chance :p

greenbadger,
I am curious why you think it will be Zimmerman and Alison. Zimmerman spanked Alison earlier in the year and has not really wrestled well since. He pulled out at Circle when he had to wrestle Tad Greer.

Blake Zimmerman never went to Circle. He pulled out of the Fredonia Invitational because the kid he was wrestling was yanking on his knee that has been injured numerous times in the past. He should win regionals at 215.

So isn't it like that all the time the western regionals are always tougher than the east??
Wish the state would do something to help get the best 16 kids there. In track they take the top 3 qualifiers, plus the 2 BEST 4th place finishers from all regionals and in football this year they took the 2 best from one district.
I wish they would do something to positively help wrestling.

We will just have to see. This is covering several posts, but Im sure Leis of GP will wrestle 119. He wrestles up to fill weight classes at times. Dalefish, im sure we will send some people to state...and I also think we have a good chance of upsetting some people from the Lakin regional. Just have to wait and see.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I know Zimmerman didn't wrestle at Circle. Alison did. I think it is a given Zimmerman will be the number one seed. I just think the guy wrestling him will probably not be Alison.

jaxx, the state has changed to include the fourth place finishers at all regionals. What does it matter if more than four could qualify at a particular regional, they probably still wouldn't place higher at state because they didn't place in the top four at their regional. I agree that it is unfortunate that some of the wrestlers may have placed at other regionals, but you never know what will happen on a given day. Don't knock a particular regional because those wrestlers work as hard as anyone else.
