I'd have to go with Bishop Carrol on this one. They took Turner at Chanute, and if they can come out of their regionals with decent seeds, then they have the talent to win it. Turner has been streaky so far this year with a win at the Bobcat, followed by two 2nd place finishes at BVNW and Chanute. Where-as Bishop Carrol only lost to a VERY good Norton team by 4 (i think) at Newton then went on to win the next tournament they're in over Turner. Nothing against Turner, they're pretty good, but I think Carrol will have something to prove. Good luck to all teams, and I'll def. be keeping my eye on how this one turns out.

I believe Carroll might be the best team in 5A, but it will be hard to win coming out of that regional they are in. It's an extremely tough regional. Turner's region is not quite as tough. They have a chance of taking 12-14 to state. That is a lot of possible points. It's going to be fun to watch. Who know, they might all cancel each other out and another team will step in and win that. Don't ever count out Ole Wayne and his bulldogs either. 5A is an interesting class this year.

turner didnt have 145lber adrian rios wrestling at chanute. it was close as it was but i think rios would have given turner the win. he was a state placer last year and ranked 3rd this year. also carroll beat turner at chanute last year much worse but turner ended up getting them at state...

"Turner's region is not quite as tough"
Turner gets to face Lansing this year at regionals. That should mix things up a bit.

I think the idea of one team beating another at a small tournament is overrated when determining team strength. In small tournaments, you do not have the same level of competition as you do at state. Therefore, someone...let's call him "Jhris Jennings"...who is a .500 wrestler at best can finish 2nd or 3rd at a tournament like Chanute, where they may be 2 and bbq at state. If a team has a bunch of Jhris Jennings on their team, they will rack up extra points and dominate the wee tournaments. I think a better indicator would be to look at larger tournaments, where there are more studs, and the Jhris Jenningses are neutralized.
That being said, I have to go with the only team sponsored by Dominant Toasties, the Steves from Steveville.
