i would like to know the seeding will be done? also i was wondering if you have #1 and #2 in state at the same weight in the same regionals would they be seeded on the same side of the bracket at state?

Regionals are assigned a letter of A,B,C,D---that comes out the week of state. 1st wrestles fourth and 2nd wrestles 3rd. That is how they are paired. You will have to wait until this Sunday to see how it works.
I do think it could be done better, but that is just my opinion.

Coach Lane: I agree that it could be done better, but how? A seeding meeting would be a nightmare, unless we could appoint a neutral seeding committee for each class that would draw up the pairings. Even that would be highly controversial. We might be better off the way we are.

It is kind of a bad way, sometimes the two best guys are on the same side.
Moore-189, If the two best guys are in the same regional and they wrestle in the finals, the one who takes first will be on one side of the state bracket and the one who takes second will be put on the oppisite side. I think that is what you are asking.

I think it is done the best way it can be now with one exception. I would like to see the regional champions seeded so in theory the best regional champion would be paired with the #4 regional champion and the 2nd and 3rd best regional champion would be paired together in the other half of the bracket. Of course it is always a guess as to who is the best until they wrestle but in those special circumstances like two defending state champions meeting, it would increase the chance of them not meeting until the finals. I would still like to see the brackets match up as they do now with that one exception.

The way it is done now (by lottery) is without question the fairest, it just doesn't always work out the best.

I must agree with fanatic....its is as good as its going to get....they might have to have armed guards for a seed meeting.

if you seeded the #1's they could end up wrestling a #2 or #3 from their own regional in the quarters.

I'm not so sure seeding the state tournament would be as difficult as people think. With teams traveling farther across the state to invitationals during the season you have more common opponents than years ago. It would make your ranking system more important during the year. Hopefully with the first four regional winners in a weight the only real arguement should be between 3rd and 4th seed. Sorry, if you don't win your regional you don't get higher than a 5th seed. Then draw in the bottom 8. Granted logistics would make seeding a bear but I think it could be done.

moore 189, the answer to your question is no, harding and brown will not wrestle each other at state until the finals, if they finish 1-2 at regionals. the first and fourth place finishes at any regional will be on one side of the bracket, while the second and third place finishes are on the other side.
