Now that school has started, is there any big transfers that have taken place across the state that will impact a team in a positive or negative manner! There might be a thread already started on this, but I did not feel like reading through 200 million threads to find it.

I know it might not sound big but I was informed today while at the YMCA by some Chapman folks that Cody Riffel who is a freshman and was a league Champion for Chapman is now at Abilene like his older brother Colby was.

I also heard that Tyler Gjerstadt (sorry for spelling) who was an undefeated NCKL champion has also transferred to Abilene and will be an 8th grader. I know that Barry Disney knows Tyler, and as sad as I am to see him go, I think we might see him get in better physical shape and become more agressive at Abilene. I also expect to see these guys go to National Tournaments in the offseason like Cadet Duals, Fargo, and Brute Nationals now that they are at Abilene.

Aaron-what you heard is true. There are some people who are looking at things in a different perspective. Yes we lost two wrestlers who won a junior high league title but that is junior high. Kids change all the time. We still have plenty of others who are just as good and are now ready to step it up this year. And with the new kids coming, who knows. It will still be a lot of fun to watch.

I know we should be ok this year at Chapman. Next year(2007) we should have a realistic chance of winning league(haven't done that since 1972 or 73) and beating Abilene something that we haven't done since 1995 (We tied them in 1997). If Chapman doesn't finish Top 10 in 2007 then something is terribly wrong in Irishland.

There are some other kids in the Junior High who have not wrestled before but now are converts. We are working on keeping them in wrestling and not basketball. For beginners, they are very very good. Also, have you seen the size of some of the new kids we have in 8th grade? Monsters! I don't know if they wrestle yet or not-will defintely "push" them to try.

Maybe you can tell them that you'll take them to the Irish Palace and Londeen's if they do place top 10, so they can get a float and a toy. If they have a fake ID you could even take them to the VFW to talk with all of the old guys. If you decide to do that, tell my grandpa I said hi.
