I am wondering if this has ever happened before. I think it may be a record of some type. This year in 5a there were 6 teams who scored over 100 team points. In many cases 100 points gets a trophy. For a class many people like to say is weak, I think that is pretty impressive.

Yes, 5A sucks. Those teams only got 100 points each because the rest of the teams were so bad.

Wow does this argument get old - but I'll still throw out 1 fact. This forum has argued which is the toughest tournaments in KS - Baeshor-Linwood or Newton. It doesn't matter which one you think is toughest because Bishop Carroll (5A) won Newton (beating Manhatten-Jhris) and KC Turner(5A) beat all KS teams at Baeshor.
I'm am not saying 5A is the toughest but I think that is slightly better than sucking.

We won more matches than Bishop Carrroll at Newton as well. We would also dominate them in a dual. And we beat Turner at Salina South. So suck it.

Above are the team scores from 2004 for the respective divisions.
Now for the AP Statistics to kick in:

..52.42
..51.56 Std. Deviation
33.06
28.90
...41.09
.
32.81
By comparing the average team score we find that 321A is lowest followed by 4A, 6A and 5A respectively.
The Standard Deviation determines how spread out the scores are. The number listed in the table is how many points + or - on either side of the average. Within that +/- number is 68% of competing teams. Within double 95% and within 3 99.7%. (The higher the number the worse)
We then see the weakest there is 5A, 321A, 6A and 4A respectively.
Highest scores also reflect on goodness: 321A kills, followed by 5A, 6A then 4A. Lowest also factor in: 0 points in 321A, 0 in 4A, 0 in 5A, 12 in 6A.
Now heres the test for continuity: The average score of the top 10 and top 25 teams in 321A and 4A and the top 6 and top 15 teams in 5A and 6A.
..
Top 6/10 Average
Top 15/25 Average 321A
.81.5
..52.18 4A
....80.95
...
..54.56 5A.
..122.15
89.64 6A
..107
..80.7
From these results, I can not clearly determine a winner. 5A has the advantage point wise, but after its top 15, the scores start to drop at higher rates. 6A looks to be at least the fairest class in that every school scored points. 4A is very highly clustered at the top and towards the end of the middle. 321A has the highest scores of any teams and also a lot more schools to compete against. However, they also had teams score 0, as did 4A and 5A.
So, if you want a winner, I say personal preference.
Yeah AP Stat.

I think the lower team scores are due to spread out talent amongst a quantity of teams. The close team scores show what a dog fight 4a was this last year. The super high team scores seem to point out that there was less competition.

6a was close until the end. That also shows something about 321a. There are only 2 good teams, so aside from those teams, it's easy to place top 5. Other classes are a lot harder to win.

I am not one usually who boasts or argues but there is only so much of this i can listen to with out becoming angry. There is only one team this year in the state of kansas that beat us that we did not beat later in the season, Manhattan(another state championship team). Did you guys ever stop and think that maybe its not that there is no competition in 5A, that maybe the teams are dominant. Our team finished higher than alot of the peoples teams in other tournaments that are on here bad mouthing 5A....Nigel-Basehor......LancerM-SME Duals..... The only team like i said that beat us this year that we didn't come back to beat was manhattan. So really its not that 5A is weak, its just there are quite a few good teams, with good wrestlers...

Actually I think you guys were **** good. I like Turner. It's just too bad there weren't many other teams to compete with you. Bishop Carrol was pretty good too, but after that there was a significant drop-off. It's okay though, like I said, you guys were **** good and could have competed well in any of the classes.

To Jhris: the top 5A teams can beat the top 6A teams. We won Newton, KC Turner won at Baeshor. And either Carroll or Turner would beat Manhattan in a dual. Also you people say that if the state team scores are low that means the wrestling is tough and more evenly distributed. Did it ever occur to you that it could mean that they are all equally bad? (i.e. 6A)
