I remember watching a few of the Frakes brothers matches. From the prevous post, Richard was listed as a three time champ. Do you know who he lost to in 1977?

He lost 2-1 to the Beloit kid whose name escapes me and shouldnt because he just beat the devil out of my kid. Help me here I cant believe I forgot that. Brad Fredrickson lost to him in the quarters. They were all state champions and good ones. It was the toughest weight in one tourney I have ever seen. Help me here with that kids name he was one of a couple of brothers there,

Some outstanding brother tandems that quickly come to mind are 1) Henry, Louis, Ralph & Jerry Madden from ACCHS/ Effingham as well as 2)Jay & Tim Coder, 3) Frank & Doug Speer 4) Noah & Brandon Clouse & 5) Jason & Kevin McCullough. Also from the Big 7 league are 6) Eric & Matt Koehler from Nemaha Valley. 2 of the best I recall are pinning sensations 7)Tom & Tim Dozier from Louisburg. They don't grow em any tougher than the 8)Roarks & 9)Napiers from Columbus. Other family names synonomous with Kansas Wrestling Championships are 10)Holbeins of Hays 11)Drehers of Plainville and the 12)Gables of Saint Francis. Newton has the 13)Thaws and Norton the 14)Hahn traditions. Also 15)Weber-Pleasant Ridge 16)Rays-Clay Center and 17)Drakes-Andover. The following also boasts of multiple winners Beloit with the 18)Treasters, 19)Adams, 20)Hewitts, and 21)Johnsons. Concordia has the 22)Dongs & 23)Ngos. Ark City with the 24)Borrer bros., 25)Ramirez, @ 26)Hernandez. & Oh yeah..the 27)Weilerts from Wamego. These are just are a few of a bunch. I know the brother tandems that I'd hate to be on the bad side of and meet in a dark alley back in their day would be 1) Maddens 2) Doziers 3) Napiers, 4) Roarks 5) Clouse & 6)Borers.

When I was at Schlagle I think one of my wrestlers (Derick Bolden) beat Quentin Hornings son from Valley Center in the third and fourth place match so there would be another placer for the Horning family.

St Francis does have the best tradition in Kansas. The most individual state champions and the most team state titles. I checked them out a year or two ago and Oberlin was second on the individual title count. I think they were over 20 champions back.

Though they are not brothers, I think that Derek Ross and his sister make a good team. Between the two of them they have one 3rd place state medal, and they aren't finished.
