Clay Madden is a very good wrestler. On Friday Feb. 7th Norton had a double duel against P-ville and Ellis. Madden beat a very respectable wrestler from P-ville, Paul Owings. On Saturday Feb. 8th he wrestled at the Phillipsburg tournament and in the finals defeated a quality wrestler from Hoxie, Cale Farber. He is a very good wrestler and in my opinion will do very well at state this year. Norton has a very good team that got 2nd at Phillipsburg losing only to Hoxie. I am pretty sure that Norton had 199.5 points and Hoxie had 215.5. Norton had 7 in for first and second while Hoxie had 9 in the finals. Luckily they are not at the same regionals, but I am looking forward to seeing those two teams at state.

Just a lil thought out to the two russell wrestlers.. 7-0 is nothing, our team(southeast of saline) was 7-0, but that means nothing, depends on who you beat to make you 7-0, i know we didnt beat very good teams and we where 7-0, and we also beat beloit and ellsworth and they are state ranked according to tournament results, not duals, cuz beloit sucks at dualing and i know the way you beat beloit is because they have 4 or 5 opens and you have a full team, My team went through the same thing last week we kept braggin about how we where 7-0 but then got it handed to us by minneapolis two times in one week, and we dual you next week, and show ya whats up, and as for whoever said Minneapolis isnt very good needs to think twice before speaking, because minneapolis is once again league champs, and a very good team. P.S. nothing against you russell wrestlers cuz ya do have a good team, i'm just sayin dont get big headed for being 7-0 because it doesnt mean anything.

The NCAA is not the greatest wrestling leauge in the state to put it mildly, so winning it isn't that big of a deal. Norton has lost 3 duals the past 3 years and is undefeated this year. Two of these losses were to Colby, who Russell or Minneapolis wouldn't even have thought of beating the last two years.

True True, but that does not make minneapolis a bad team, just because they can't hang with an awesome one.

And like the MCL is a real though league, other than Colby duels outside of the league, Norton has not had any real competition, except for a pathetic loss to phillipsburg that should have never happened. It is bad for Norton when their easiest tourney is the MCL.

i agree the mcl tourney is not verry tough but up until this year, the j-husker had the knod for the weakest tourney that Norton attended and the weakness of the mcl is just a recent slump it used to be verry competitave with great tourney teams like smith-center and plainville and some formerly good duel teams like p-burg and Trego hopefully the Mcl can come out of it's slump and give the bluejays some compatition (your right the p-burg duel loss never shoulda happened)

Im tired of everyone on here talking about how madden isnt that good and how he almost got "stuck" by a girl. I think he's easily one of the top wrestlers in 123a. Hes beat farber from hoxie 2 times out of 3 and has wrestled good every tourny but newton which was extremely tough.

I have seen the Russel kid and Madden up close. If you want to bring Madden almost getting pinned by a girl what about Ryan almost losing to a nobody from Osborne granted he won the first by a pin but the second match was a 1 or two point match. And for Regionals it looks like Madden will be ranked #1 and Owings or Ryan #2 or #3 really wont matter. I dont see him touching Owings

actually both times i've wrestled the osborne kid i've stuck him. I also placed in an a tough tournament maybe you've heard of it? the Prarie Senior Classic? and i lost the 5/6th match in OT to the kid i beat in the quarter's. But yes it will be a really close match between me and owings if we meet. We'll just have to wait until regionals to decide how everything plays out. But Best of luck to everyone.

Oh and another thing i lost the cons.semi match to a kid that wasnt that good but that's how wrestling works. I'm not making excuses but yea i prolly deserved to get beat since i didnt warm up or anything but we'll just see how all of this plays out at regionals.

The Regional Tour. at P-Burg is by far the toughest in the state. There will be a lot of teams have a lot of kids not place.Norton might not take as many as everyone hopes. While Hoxie sits at a weeker Reg.they could take more wrestlers to State. So who has the advantage. So what does anyone do but let it all play out!

Yes SPC was a tough tournament for weak teams but in all honesty the Beloit Tournament was much much tougher at 103 than the SPC. Bingham from Manhatten is a stud. Just remember all the talk your doing now means very little if Madden Owings, and Farber beat you. Good Luck You will need it.

Hey bigkneepads,

Why didn't you cut weight to go challenge that freshman at 160 (jimmy stewart)??? Or why didn't you go up and beat 189 (brad page)??? Stop bragging about wrestling JV behind Nate and go find a spot on varsity. Ohh one more thing, you will be JV next year also since they are all underclassmen.

Both are quality wrestlers and my coach and I discussed it and we both thought it would be best for the team as a whole if I stayed at 171. Stay the hell out of my bizznass, though.

Why don't you move up to avoid Clay Madden pummeling you? Plus, it's too late in the season to move down and I am light 71 pounder, so wrestling at 89 would be against much heavier opponents, that would be like you bumping up to 119. You're bad enough at 103, I don't think you could handle 119.

Indeed he will. I hope he doesn't hurt you bad enough that you can't wrestle anymore. On second thought, nix that. I hope he breaks your arm.
