I was just wondering why no one has given credit to Neil Erisman? He's ranked #1 as a freshman in the national circuit but not in high school, i was kinda wondering why that is, anyone have any answers? I think he has earned his spot on top of the competition and deserves to be recongnized

Thanks for your time

I think Neil will get some recognition when the season starts. I think people have forgot about him or don't know of him since he is a freshman.
I don't know what type of schedule Desoto has but he'll make some waves.

yes he is a very good wrestler, so your sayin just because he is a freshman he's not ranked. Maybe you guys should read up on the kid. read the national mag it says he ranked but no one gives the kid credit. Mr. Erisman has earned his right to be #1 so why don't you guys accept it and have the kid ranked. I guess right now it doesn't matter just wait and see who's ranked #1 at the state tourny. that wil;l show how good the guy really is

He has wrestled kids the same age or one year older than him. In High School it is a little different. He could wrestle kids four to five years older depending on their age.
I'm not saying he won't beat everyone but there are not many freshman that win it all at 145. If he is that good he will be there at the end, just relax he wait a few Tournaments.

In order to be ranked I think you have to actualy do something on the high school level first. I have seen kids that do very well on the state and national levels in LITTLE LEAGUE and then get to high school only to be man handled by the top six in state. This is not to take anything away from him but 145 looks like it is shaping up to be one of the toughest weight classes if not the most talented weight class this year. If it was one of the lower weight classes I could see your point but for a freshman to place at 145 this year would truely be a feit. I do wish him the best of luck and look forward to seeing him wrestle.

neil has wrestled alot highshool kids and done very well. he has beat highschool state champions in freestlye an place 7th in the cadet nationals.neil beat a oklahoma state champion senior last year in the highshool divison at the ou open as 8th grader. this kid has gone to wrestle for cms college this year. neil has wrestled alot high level comp and praticed and train with college and olympic wrestlers, i dont know of any highscool wrestler that has the type of coaching and training neil has this makes up for his age.

Normally, freshmen (even those with extensive kids experience) above 119 lbs struggle. If for no other reason than the advantage of mature muscles over younger, developing bodies. However, there have been exceptions. It is my strong opinion that Neil will be one of those exceptions, and will have an great freshman season.

As a high school coach, the rankings are not that important to me or my athletes. The rankings are for the news media and people that know nothing about the athletes. We as coaches and wrestlers know who the good wrestlers are.
But it is true that we normally will not consider freshmen in the rankings no matter how good they are at the national level in Freestyle or Greco. We normally wait until they prove themselves during the high school season to rank them at the high school level. And I personally think that Neil will prove himself very quickly in the season.
Credit at the high school level will be given when there is proof.

Danny Grater is a perfect example. Not to down play how good he is but he only got 6th place in the state last year and then went on to win a national title as a Cadet in the summer. Danny was in what I believe to have been the toughest weight class in the state last year and 140lb to 145lb looks to be shaping up to be very tough this year!

Then that explains it because i believe Grater spanked Neil a couple of times this summer. Cry no more 275!

good point mama's boy. that says it all right there if you got whooped not just once but a few times by grater who only took 6th place last yr i do not think he should be ranked at all. Grater shouldnt be the one your worried about either it he kid ranked right baove him you should be worried about.
