I think everyone understands that the Newton Tournament and the Bobcat Classic are the two most delicious, non-state tournaments in the state. Unfortunately, they happen on the same weekend. So I pose the question: Which tournament is most delicious? I'm not talking about hospitality rooms, announcers, or bleacher space, I'm talking about wrestling.
My vote this year goes to the Bobcat. That 171 bracket is incredibly tasty.

i say since we cant go to the big tournaments out east or west due to the 500 mile rule, we combine these 2 tournaments to make 1 big powerhouse tourney.

But I could be wrong.

Got another one for you currently ranked #3 in 4a Wesley Weller who is undefeated on the year if memory serves correctly, I don't think he's had one match go the distance this year...all pins and he's a junior...so still some promise....
What does 130lbs look like for the Classic? I heard Abilene won't be competing this week in the Herrington Tournament to prepare for the Bobcat Classic possibly due in part to the obnoxius point system that Kansas has.

At Newton next weekend there's probably gonna be a very delicious matchup between Grater from Clay Center and Hill from Wichita Heights, which I'm guessing will happen in the finals on Saturday. Is there any other possible great matchups like this at Newton? Oh and Prant, did you happen to make it to Clay and watch Manhappiness wax us in the dual on Thursday?

Why yes, I did. Fine town, Clay Center...but your Taco Bell needs to speed it up. (And maybe you guys could invest in some newer singlets? Just a suggestion.)
I was a little disappointed you guys didn't send Skyler out there, and I was even more disappointed that your 171 pulled that one out. I think we all know Little Warner was screwed out of some back points on that Granby/Pederson Cradle...
The 189 at Newton will have MarrsBars from CC, as well as Pietzkckzkcz from South, and I'm sure some other studs. 215 will have a delicious match with Jhris vs. Knipp, assuming Jhris doesn't catch the same sand bug he caught last year...(I believe in you, buddy.)
As always, the team race at Newton will be very interesting. I think that Newton usually is a stronger team tourney, whereas Bobcat is all about the individuals.

Yeah, our Taco Bell is pretty weak. I usually only go there for the fat man's best friend, the grilled stuft burrito. I also wanted to see a heated matchup at heavyweight between skylar and garren. Of course it doesnt hold a candle to the Inflato singlet (Fat Pat) vs. Skinny Benny epic battle. Not sure why we went open at that weight. I thought the thing started at 6:30 so it was kinda packed by the time i got there, leaving me standing by the doorway the whole time. About the singlets, at least we're not wearing the 70's nuthugger singlets. They are very uncool.

I personally love our finals singlets, because they ride a little bit higher than most schools.
So this kid is putting on his shoes right, and his mom says, honey you're putting your shoes on the wrong feet, and the little kid says, no mom these are my feet

Prant, As participants in both tourneys in the past,It is my opinion that it varies from year to year. With Abilene and Goodland coming this year, I believe it definately puts it over the top as over all competition goes. Bishop & Clay are down alittle compared to recent teams they have had. At the classic I think the championship could go to a number of teams as compared to Newton you could probably have a 50-50 shot at picking the winner. With that said, I would love to see Grater and Hill match up. Grater will smoke him though. He may very well be the best wrestler in the state. And the 171 lb. class at the classic is a doozie! I'm going to go out on a limb and pick Molloy from Hieghts. Good luck at Newton. Wiscombe

In looking at the lineups, I think the Bobcat is the better of the two. 103--Fisher and Metzler are good, but I think that Brett Bahe is better.Bobcat 112--Not familiar with the wrestlers, give the benefit to Newton. 119-- I like Blayze Bahe. Bobcat. 25-- Deeds Mancuso, and Geske vs. Garcia-- too close to call give to Newton. 130-- Kreigbaum vs. Annon-- I think close, Kreigbaum gets the nod. Newton. 135-- Bowman over Ashpole Bobcat. 140 ZOUSAS newton. 145 Danny Grater, the Glendale Ia. guy is 20-0 in a VERY tough place to wrestle but dont know him so Newton. 152 Wiscome over Johnson. Bobcat. 160 Kromer and Taplin over everyone else- Bobcat. 171 Cisper and Weller over Kosko and Pfanenstiel--bobcat. 189--I like Page of Paola over Mars. Bobcat. 215--Jennings or Sponsel over Stewart of Paola-- Newton. AT heavy Bedore is better than Sprigg. Bobcat. Out on a limb, but that is how I would rank 'em. Note that in every close matchup I have given the advantage to Newton, so it may not be this close. Sure would like to see the Iowa guy and Grater go at it, though.

At 119 lbs. I would have to give the edge to Newton with Garret Harding from Winfield.

My upset pick would be R.J Nill beating Issac Wall in overtime.
With the power of Ra!

Rocknraider, if you are truly interested in the Nill-Wall matchup you should go to the BVNW tournament this weekend. Depending on the seeding meeting, they have a better than average chance of meeting. I would assume that the Goddard wrestler will go in at 1, and Nill and Wall maybe 2,3. I hear Edgemon (sp) is extremely difficult to beat because of his tremendous technique and strength, so Nill and Wall may need to be on the same side of the bracket to meet each other.
