Dead end in the fact that you can't become a pro. The highest sequence you can go is: High School College Olympics Coach

hey all sports are dead ends if you didnt think of anything else you wanted to do with your life. For 99.9% of all the kids who ever played anything it was a dead end but it didnt keep it from being a blast and make great memories. If you think going pro is the only validation for a sport think again. It is a pipe dream for most kids anyway. Heck go out and be a rock star you have a better chance, or a rapper anyone can do that.

I agree with Westfahl, but in addition to being a blast and making great memories, you learn a lot of life's lessons playing sports. But for those of you who wished there was one more rung in the wrestling ladder, check out http://www.realprowrestling.com This is something that is just starting up. They had info on it at either Cliff Keen Kickoff Classic or Tulsa Nationals, can't remember which. Let's all check this out, it may help college wrestling down the line.

I saw a flyer about that the other day, and it looks pretty neat. They have tried that off and on over the years and it hasn't worked, but with the mass media the way it is now it might be more viable now. I wouldn't mind seeing it. I think Erik Aiken is involved in that in some way or another.

if you think about it, you have a slightly better chance of going somewhere with wrestling simply because of the fact that there arent as many of us as there are.. basketball players or some other sport

I think I know what the creator of this post is talking about. Wrestling is a great sport and does great things for a lot of people. The sad truth, it's harder to make a career out of wrestling as opposed to football or baseball, being that there's no professional wrestling (aside from the fake crap on UPN). In high school, college, and the Olympics, it's all ameteur, therefore no money coming in from it. Not to mention, not too many wrestlers go on to big endorsements deals. The closest I've seen is when Cael Sanderson was on the Wheaties box. Plus, wrestling require so much time, energy, and dedication to succeed, you almost have to be rich to start with to consider wrestling a sound career choice.

Another thing to consider is that there are some very successful and famous people today who used to wrestle. I saw a list of them the other day and it was pretty impressive. You have to feel that wrestling contributed to their ultimate success. These people were successful in politics, business and the entertainment industries and other occupations.

Wrestling is not a dead end sport. Sports are not about money it is about the compitition and learning life lessons. No other sport gives you as much as wrestling does. Anyway hardly anybody makes a career out of professional sports. Very few make it to the pros and of those who do many of them don't last past a couple of years. You kids out theire if you want to make wrestling a career go to college on a wrestling scholarship and become a wrestling coach we always need more good wrestling coaches in education.

Exactly right! There are no dead end sports if someone learns how to work hard, overcome adversity, and get along with other people. Life is all about learning and they are teach valuable lessons in that regard.

im sorry and I don't care if anyone else agrees, but I would never take money to wrestle. To me wreslting is about competition and having fun and making oneself better. And I would pay money to be able to not have the injury I have so that I could at least try to wrestle in college. I'd give just about anyhting to have that back. So would I want to be paid to wrestle "Heck no!!!"
